Ah, but only beautiful Cincinnati meets Aimee's criterion of "very little to do."
"Cincinnati: Surprisingly Few Attractions"
"Cincinnati: The Airport is in Kentucky"
"Cincinnati: The Other Ohioans"
"Have You Forgotten About Detroit? ...Isn't It About Time You Did?"
What about Austin? Someone more familiar with it than me should correct me if I'm wrong, but my impression is that it's a great place, hot but not humid (and thus not like Satan's armpit, so the late May timing wouldn't be a problem), with a manageable number of city-based peri-F2F activities. Also in the south, which is the part of the country to which we haven't been yet.
Hub or not Dallas is just expensive to fly in and out of. It would have actually been cheaper for me to go back to Louisiana, and fly from there with a stopover in Dallas than to fly straight out of Dallas.
"Cincinnati: The Airport is in Kentucky"
Man, that *should* be our slogan. You have NO idea how many people get freaked out by that little geographical oddity.

I know I did. "I'm in
Kentucky.
How the hell did that happen?"

That's the problem with a hub. Less competition.
Oh, St. Louis.
Hm. Overall, I think I still prefer NOLA and Minneapolis.
NOLA is, I think, the clear frontrunner, but I'd prefer Minneapolis because I hear NOLA has big scary bugs. And we don't have any local NOLAistas, and I want to meet Juliana.

well, technically, DC is the the south.
I'd prefer Minneapolis because I hear NOLA has big scary bugs
It isn't that bad. Only a few of the cockroaches have their own zip codes.
Cincy has shitty public transportation, though I think in LA we (mostly) carpooled, didn't we? But used public transportation in Chicago and DC.
I live here, and I wouldn't actually recommend it over Cleveland, NOLA, or Minneapolis. However, it wouldn't be bad, but it can stay on the bench for now. ("Cincinnati: Always a Redshirt.")
