There was a Catholic group upstairs from the prom in Chicago. Also all the bathrooms were up there, so we had to walk through them to use the facilities. (Considering the drinking going on, people's trips upstairs were not infrequent.)
Plei's corset and my corset were the object of some attention each time we went upstairs; to people's credit, though, they didn't gawk but instead asked questions very politely. It was nice.
Everyone needs to post more! I'm living vicariously here, people. Help a girl out.
All, my ability to attend Prom tonight is in serious question. We found out today that one of the kids that BF coached (hockey) was killed early this morning in a one-car accident. Rod was 17 years old.
I'm not taking this well. He was one of my favorites.

Thank you everybody. Ironically, it happened around the same time I was driving home from the hotel. IIRC, I was passing the exact area and vaguely remember hearing sirens. I just talked to his parents, and as much as I hurt, they are completely torn apart.
I hate this. I. hate. this. Why do teenagers think they are indestructible? He was tempting fate from the start: driving after midnight on a restricted license, left the house without his parent's knowledge, and speeding on wet roads. Now a lot of people are grieving because consequences are the last thing a 17 year-old thinks of. I'm angry, not because of what he did, but because we'll never get to see the kind of person he'd become. Even with this sense of invincibility, he was a good kid who was going to turn out just fine.
