Aren't they something. They're like butterflies, or little pieces of wrapping paper blowing around.

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I didn't buy a sword, but oh man, it was close a few times.

Dude, ita's already got Legolas' knives hanging over her door. Get on it.

I got Sting for Christmas two years ago. Damned sweet blade for killing snowmen with.

I still want to get Aragorn's knife (the one he got from Celeborn). It's pretty, and curvy, and lethal.

And now I sound like ita.

I think one of my favorite Weta-geek-out stories I heard on the commentaries was from Bernard Hill on the TTTEE, when he told about getting a couple of old walking-sticks-with-leather-seats-on-top at a garage sale in NZ so he would have something to lean on while wearing the full set of armor that made it impossible for him to properly sit down. A Weta leather worker told him that he could fix up the tears in the seats if Bernard wanted him to, so he took the guy up on the offer. When he got the seats back, they were elaborately decorated in hand-tooled leather, with Rohirric royal emblems covering the seats. Bernard was in awe.

I'm still blown away by the waka (sp?) that the stunt team did for Bernard and Viggo on their last day on set.

They were obviously quite moved by it too, but it definitely made me all misty and choked up, watching the supplimental stuff.

Art Crawl!!!

Awww, that's lovely.

Why don't we all have Weta staff at our disposal?

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Bernard also said that the interior of his breastplate was tooled, and said in Rohirric, "made for Theoden, King of the Rohan", and it really helped to put him in character.

Hakka, Sean. Yes, it was ostensibly for both "kings," as Hill and Viggo were both present. But it became obvious the stunties were "presenting" to Viggo.

Guys, Blades by Brown is right here in town. I walk in the door, they put steel in my hand. StY bought his GF Hadhafang for Christmas two years ago.

You've got to love a man who know his woman wants steel.

Didn't Karl Urban say the inner rim of his helmet (where no camera would ever possibly see it) was tooled in Rohirric with, "this helmet is the property of Eomer, third marshall of the Riddermark."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

That's what happens when you have geeks making the stuff. I'll bet all the articles of clothing had nametags sewn inside them, too, so they couldn't get mixed up with the other kids' clothes.
