LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

A discussion of Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King. If you're a pervy hobbit fancier, this is the place for you.

Bernard also said that the interior of his breastplate was tooled, and said in Rohirric, "made for Theoden, King of the Rohan", and it really helped to put him in character.

Didn't Karl Urban say the inner rim of his helmet (where no camera would ever possibly see it) was tooled in Rohirric with, "this helmet is the property of Eomer, third marshall of the Riddermark."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

That's what happens when you have geeks making the stuff. I'll bet all the articles of clothing had nametags sewn inside them, too, so they couldn't get mixed up with the other kids' clothes.

Art Crawl!!!

Toronto is having an IMAX LotR Trilogy marathon.

Since it doesn't say which -- I'm assuming theatrical releases.

Art Crawl!!!

From an article talking about the soundtrack EE set:

The DVD would also feature material covering Shore’s recent transfer of the trilogy’s music to a live concert setting, The Lord Of The Rings Symphony. “The DVD would also potentially have a 45-minute documentary which we shot on the making of the Symphony and full performance of it done with the Montreal Symphony," he added.

and

For those fans who miss out on the London shows, don't fret: Shore also confirmed to Empire that a two-disc CD release of the show is also in the works for release next year

This was from April of 2005. Guess I know what I want for Christmas!

"Don't think of yourself as an organic pain collector racing towards oblivion." Dogbert to Dilbert

Because they haven't squeezed all the discretionary income out of Beverly, Jeff Mejia, Sumi and Kathy Astrom yet?

Hey! I never got the Gollum statue! (I would have killed for some Ent bookends, though). And I haven't broken down and bought the Minas Morgul thingy (yet).

After going throught the commentaries and extras, I still find it almost impossible to believe how closely they got to missing the deadline. Everybody talks about how they buckled down to get things done, but I'm surprised no one went postal.

I do love the look on Elijah Wood's face when he tells the story that Peter Jackson hadn't seen the full cut of the film until the premiere.

John -- I'm glad somebody was able to benefit from that news. I will admit that I was underwhelmed with RotK on IMAX when I saw it -- but I think I remember that the sound was bad in the theatre.

There's a good report on the Richard Taylor/Tania Rodgers talk in Australia on the front page of TORN (both the report and a streaming video are linked from there).

I didn't know that Taylor is rather deaf, apparently from his work. This might explain the volume of his voice. He does laugh when telling about dealing with Viggo and his softspoken ways (apparently, Viggo had no problem giving Taylor a hard time).

Electromagnetic candy! - Stark

Is it okay if I just sit here and smile serenely, basking in the glow of other fans?

Mmmm. Tolkien. I'll try not to dribble on and on and on. I'll just sit quietly, smiling.
