I get the LOTR fan mag and a few extra scenes are:
1- extended scene in
the paths of the dead
2- they show how Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas
commandeer the Corsair ships
3- not sure on this one - I think they might show when Merry
swears fealty to Theoden
4- Merry and Eowyn when
they make camp on the trip to Minas Tirith
5- extended interaction between Faramir and Denethor

Well, considering that photographs of that very seen have been available on the internet since the first movie came out, they damn well better include that scene.
I check the mag again last night. They are also including
1- Aragorn and
the Witch-king fighting in front of the gates of Mordor
2- The
mouth of Sauron showing Aragorn and co. Frodo's mithril shirt
3- Aragorn
healing Eowyn in the houses of healing.
I can't wait til Christmas!
The first broadcast showing of FotR is coming up (11/7, if memory serves), and the ads keep faking me out for the EE DVD release, not least of all because I want them a month earlier. But at least one of them doesn't use the lovely music, and has put some crap on instead. Why would they do that? It was good enough for the trailers, so we know it can be cut down powerfully.
Odd to not capitalise on that mindshare.

Yes -- #1 didn't happen. What I have heard is that what we get is the big confrontation between Gandalf and the Witch-King on the walls of Minas Tirith.
I was looking at TORN's high rez pictures from the EE and came up with these extended or new scenes:

Oh, yes, the scene in all the previews that they pulled. I'm looking forward to that.

Okay, I'm planning on taking a road trip this weekend and given last weekend's road trip I realized that I needed to have a scene listing and a track listing with me while we have the LotR soundtrack on. (Sad, I know -- but I figure that you guys understand.)
On my listing of the RotK scenes:
the Return to Edoras scene is #4, on the TORN website photo of the scene selection page for the EE, it is #5. Therefore -- new scene very early on.
You get down to "Shelob's Lair" and it's scene 29 on the theatrical and scene 38 on the EE. So there are five additional scenes listed on the EE that weren't in the pictures on TORN. (This is prior to new scene 39 Merry's Simple Courage. )
