'Hell Bound'

LotR - The Return of the King: "We named the *dog* 'Strider'".

Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yay! Of course, this way, I can keep pretending it's still going on until 2005. We bought all the original releases, but have only watched other peoples' extended release dvds, with the intent of buying the box set when it comes out. I was unable to convince the SO that we needed all of: a) theatrical release dvds, cause they come out soonest, b) extended release dvds, cause extended!, c) trilogy box set, cause that's the actual product, and possibly any d) collectors editions, cause figurines! Dunno why he didn't buy into it. But I am extremely anxious to get my paws on an extended release trilogy box set.

The responses to that are kinda funny. I would find it extremely odd if they *didn't* release a trilogy box set. We've been counting on it all along.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No shit.

I was startled by people who thought they were being fleeced by the current multiple releases -- is it a secret held by fandom that there was going to be an EE? It's not like X1.5, where it's admitted on disc pretty much that it was an afterthought.

I can't wait to see how pretty or special the trilogy is. I have the theatricals and EEs so far (not platinum, though, and only the theatrical soundtracks). I'm happy.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Well, I dunno about figurines. I'm surviving without them okay, but that could be just me. I've taped or rented all the fifth disc stuff from the platinum sets, because we just got the TEs and the EEs--but you really have to have those, don't you? At a minimum? Because, different extras on each set, yeah? I wonder if the trilogy will have more!different!extras than were on the previous editions? Deleted scenes! Alternate scenes! Bloopers! Auditions! More and different geeky making-of stuff! Precious!

Thanks for all the fish.

I want a set that has the theatrical and extended versions.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I almost bought the TEs the other day... found them used for $11 (FOTR) and $14 (TTT). I talked myself out of it because I am POOR, but... payday on Friday, yo. If they're still there, they're mine.

Dom Alert: Tonight Jimmy Kimmel live ABC (12:05am/11:05pm Central).

UGH. I HATE Jimmy Kimmel. The sacrafices one makes when one is obsessed with a certain hobbit...I actually listened to the Loveline that Dom guested on and it was worth it just to hear him call American football "armored catch" and thus make that Adam Corrolla (or whatever his name is - the guy who isn't the Dr.) totally lose it.

I listened to Loveline for an actor. Let us never speak of it again.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

A co-worker just came over to tell me that him and his five year old were listening to Steward Of Gondor, and he asked her who was singing it.

Gandalf? Gimli? Legolas? Aragorn?

Apparently she went through most of the cast (including Saruman, which disturbed him), but never got to Pippin.

What a cutie. She's seen all the movies, loves FotR the most.

It was also determined that Lurtz is kinda the Boba Fett of Middle Earth.

My loins concur mightily.
