Frodo: Please, what does it always mean, this... this "Aragorn"? Elrond: That's his name. Aragorn, son of Arathorn. Aragorn: I like "Strider." Elrond: We named the *dog* "Strider".

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

On the Line? My roommate brought me the VHS version from home with her today. (Did you find that thing?)

Yes, On the Line -- that's funny that she just brought it for you and I just saw it today. You want me to pick up the DVD for you for the extra features? It was $10 or under; possibly $5.

Saw that thing; it's $20. Should we get it? t /cryptic

We should get it, I think. Or at least put it on hold until I get some ready cash. As for OTL, it's really tempting because I'd prefer to have my own copy of the DVD, but the good stuff is actually on the VHS, and the extra features aren't that great. But thank you for offering.

We can hold off on the thing until you have ready cash -- it'll be there. I've seen it there for 6 months, at least. There's more than one.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

This amusing sketch was mailed to me by DH's aunt, who is phenomenally cool. She didn't leave me a note as to where she got it from, though, so I have no idea who this "Gregory" is.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

See, see, this is why we needed the scouring. The emotional, character impact, not-action-driven stuff all lives there. And it has the hurt on. And you know how we all love the pain.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The final part of The Lord of the Rings trilogy has picked up the best film award at this year's Empire magazine film awards.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

The winners were informed ahead of time, so Jackson sent in a tape of his acceptance speech that he filmed while on a roller coaster. The members of the cast that were in the audience whose reactions were seen on TV were saying, "That's so like him."

Looks like one of the artists who's a regular contributor to The New Yorker.
