Every time someone mentions their crypoints it makes me cry again. Possibly I should not have spent an hour listening to the soundtrack and sobbing in my room this afternoon.

Oh, and when Sam gets up to go talk to Rosie at the Green Dragon? From the faces of the other hobbits, I thought he had just grabbed her and started kissing her--they all looked like they were thinking "oh, time to look away now." Anyone else get this impression?

Kathy, about Billy Boyd making up the tune? Fucking incredible. And I also agree about the music as Frodo crawls desperately up Mount Doom--that flute line is so gorgeous.

I know! I was surprised into pointing at the screen and saying "Dog!" out loud. The people I was with hadn't been here for that conversation, so they thought me master of the obvious, and were a little concerned at that point. Fortunately, they were quickly distracted by the pretty movie. And did no one else but me love the flaming rhino ram? I thought it was hysterical and, you know, frightening, all at the same time.

I was wondering if that was Figwit, but wasn't sure.

Victor, San Diego's reviewer might've hated it more.

Beverly, about the flaming ram -- that was supposed to be a *boar*, and it was called "Grond" after the Hammer of the Underworld. And yes, terrible and funny and destructive as all hell.

I loved the dragon/boar/rhino battering ram too. It was on fire! Cool!

Theo, that would be great if they showed Legolas seeing the sea for the first time in the extended edition. I might argue that it wouldn't make much sense in the movie, because we haven't seen the bit where Gandalf tells Legolas to beware the sea, but then again, the EEs are really for the book-lovers anyway, so they might put it in for us.

My big cry point was, yes, a Frodo/Sam scene:

Sam talking about the Shire, and then we get Frodo's "Wheel of Fire" speech, which I was really hoping would be included in some form, and I think that EW just nailed it. I'm convinced of that because that's when I lost it and started sobbing during both my viewings.

I completely agree that Sam was planting one on Rosie offscreen, and thought that the other hobbits' reactions were great--we finally got a great smile from Frodo!

Oh, and a great little thing that I noticed today-- Narya! Yes, Gandalf's wearing the ring at the Grey Havens !
