Yeah, we're building a race of frog-people. It's a good time

We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

I've got a friend who isn't a chaplain, but who leads a Wicca circle on an Air Force base (or did, for a decent stretch of time) as a civilian.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Results of the Guardian's Kill off Dumbledore contest.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

These are fun! I adore William Carlos Williams version.

I was just about to link to that Dana. Damn you.

I love the A.A. Milne one.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

The Zork one is hilarious.

The Sappho one is hysterical.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Some of them (like the ones that've mentioned) are good, but most are fairly disappointing, I think. The Palahniuk one is all wrong. And I'm annoyed at all the misspellings and comma splices.

I liked the Chaucer one:

So began the Dark Lorde's awfolle gloatyng,
And standarde baddeguy showéboatynge,
"But not todaye, you little shytte!
Payn's true meanynge, thou shalt wytte!"

There's a fun HP quiz here. I found it pretty easy--only one question gave me a few minutes pause.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

(x-posted from Bitches)...

I had an appointment with a chiropractor this morning, first consultation type thing. The office is all decked out as Madame Pomfrey's Infirmary for today's Harry Potter festival thingy. I got checked out by Madame Pomfrey!

The area is already decorated and looks great. A restaurant changed it's sign to "The Three Broomsticks," another to "Leaky Cauldron," my chiro had an "Infirmary" sign. There are balloons and sorting hats and all kinds of things all over. It should be a fun day!
