Astonishing Stories update: newcomer Jason Roberts, "7C," good stuff. I did not think you could write a horror short story about quasars, but guess what.
We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good
There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."
From Metafilter -- recently found interview with Frank and Beverly Herbert on Dune from 1969.

She's brilliant.
Marry me.
Yay, my first buffista proposal!
I do seem to remember that Rowling had nearly every ill in the Potter-verse treatable by chocolate, but I could just be projecting my own inner drama on the text.
Just Dementor exposure, right?
Just Dementor exposure, right?
Could be. I thought that Harry got chocolate most of the time that he ended up in the infirmary. But it's been over a year since I last cracked a HP book, so I can't swear to it.
Not to mention EXPECTO PATRONUS!!!
If this a) works IRL and b) has anything to to with tequila, I may convert to Wicca.
Pretty sure chocolate's canonically good for everything. It's like an aspirin/valium.
[eta: Er, HPverse chocolate. But RealWorld!chocolate's pretty good too.]
Oh, I agree, the books are a fantastically accurate portrayal of Wicca. Wicca spells are all in bastard Latin, after all. Anyone who's attended a baby-sacrifice naked black mass in a desecrated graveyard knows that.
And I'd REALLY like a Wizard Chess set!
Emmett has one. Though it's not all giant sized.
Dude, if it actually works like the Wizard Chess in the books, I'ma steal it.
Also, all you Buffista Wiccans, I really need a Remembrall.
I want the Sneak-o-scope for Evil Co-Workers.
