Now I have a sudden urge to read a romance novel where the euphemisms are so vague and removed from the acts they represent that it's not possible to tell what's actually happening in a given love scene.
"When they touched, it was as if her windblown lace was being gently kissed by the morning dew" and so forth.
And featuring a Spaniard, no less.
Gotta like the bad guy:
As for the heavies, they, too, are worthy of Alatriste's colorful world. Most notable is the silent Italian assassin Gualterio Malatesta, "a man so accustomed to killing his victims from behind that when by chance he faced them, he sank into deep depressions, imagining that he was losing his touch."

And his last name means bad head (or brain). Sounds interesting.
That's the series that they're making a movie with Viggo Mortensen as Alatriste.
Why is it that the IMDB has this site site listed as the official site for
Alatriste
when the site clearly says that it is NOT the official site for either the books or the movie about Captain Alatriste?
Am I not reading the Spanish correctly?
I think this may be the ultimate Bitch romance. [link]
Oh, and besides turning her into a convincing man, they also take the extra precaution of hiring only gay pirates as their crew. Yes, you read right. A ship literally filled with asspirates. Except for the gunner and his companion, Sally, who is a goose. Yikes. But what’s a little bestiality between pirates, especially with a well-dressed goose who understands spoken English. And spoken pirate English.
Darlene Marshall, Pirate's Price.
[and Sumi, your Spanish is just fine. That is not the official site.]
Advice needed:
My husband is reading George R.R. Martin's Wild Cards series, which he really enjoys. He is on book 4 and I have been able to find books 5, 6 and 12 through abebooks. Books 7-11 seem to be much harder to come by. Does anyone have any extra copies lying around or know of a stash that someone might be trying to get rid of?
I think that Tor is re-releasing the books, but not fast enough.
Megan - I think I noticed them at my local bookstore the other day, used for 2-3 bucks. However, I must warn you, everything after about #5 or 6 was crap. If you want, tho, I can double check if they have them in.
