It's called a blaster, Will, a word that tends to discourage experimentation. Now, if it were called the Orgasmater, I'd be the first to try your basic button press approach.

We're Literary 2: To Read Makes Our Speaking English Good

There's more to life than watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No. Really, there is! Honestly! Here's a place for Buffistas to come and discuss what it is they're reading, their favorite authors and poets. "Geez. Crack a book sometime."

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

That's the edition I have, David! The cover creeps me out.

An Infamous Army is very loosely related to These Old Shades: the heroine is either Leonie and Avon's granddaughter, or Vidal and Mary's, I forget which.

Art Crawl!!!

Is Single White Vampire the one where the vampire has this incredible shoe collection which her evil family disperses upon her death? They bury her in her dowdiest outfit? Is it that one? Because I want to know! I want to read that book.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I love These Old Shades, too, though The Grand Sophy is my favorite Heyer. I haven't read An Infamous Army yet, but I can highly recommend The Spanish Bride.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I'm on my never-ending quest for vampire novels that aren't dreadful.

I recommend Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series. It's young-adult, so you might find some of it dreadful, but it integrates vampire mythology with Hindu mythology, which is just fucking cool.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Jilli, have you read Jon Merz's vampire series? They're not dreadful. They aren't particularly spooky or supernatural, either, sort of vampires with a mafia feel.

I just read Laura Kinsale's newest. It's got to be the best written porn I've ever encountered. The plot was pretty good too.

Hmm? I haven't read them. I'll try and track them down.

Anyone read Candle Bay by Tamera Thorne?

Not javachik

Katerian Bee! I'm finally 2/3 into Red Thunder and really liking it, in all its "hey kids, let's build a rocket and go to Mars," ways. Thanks!

In Her Shoes is as much fun as Bet Me IMHO, complete with friends, jobs, elders & other normal things.

Has Blood Sucking Fiends ever come up? Christopher Moore, so, kind of a Tom Robbinesque comedic take on vampires in San Francisco, complete with hilarious Marina Safeway midnight frozen turkey bowling. Hmm, published in 1996, I wonder if he was the first to write about frozen turkey bowling.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I saw an interesting vampire collection at the used store yesterday, Vampire Sextette (I think). Had stories by Nancy Collins, Tanith Lee, Chelsea Quinn Yarbro, Brian Stableford and two others.
