You can't leave me to my own devices; my devices are Nap and Eat. -Zenkitty

So with the big accident at the beginning, hysterical laughter was probably not the intended reaction, right?

Just at a guess? No.

Sean, they had a president who used to have problems with paper cuts, and made a law to help prevent them.

Best. Fanwank. Ever.

Hi Abi!

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Hi, Sean! I get to see Emma in a few minutes!

I learned Post-Creative Rationalization at an early age. It's a gift.

See, I'm the opposite on the cancer thing. I actually really enjoy seeing an "advanced" civilization that hasn't conquered all diseases. It seems like most shows want to just assume that all that stuff gets done. Those things are very complicated problems to solve, I think much moreso than things like space travel.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

But...it's the same treatment we have. I'm ok with not a cure, but that it's obviously what we have, just with different words, irks me.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

Oh, my. RDA as I've never quite seen him before.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

Swapping Jack in would work really well, actually. Except he probably wouldn't have let Vala take over the ship to begin with. He's pretty tough that way.

Speaking of which, has SG-1 done a "Die Hard" episode? I see "The Eye" as SGA's version, but I'm coming up blank on an SG-1 version. Jack, with gun, sneaking around and taking everyone down while he mocks the baddies over the radio...

t goes to bunk

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That RDA picture made me laugh so hard. I was glad to see there were glasses, so I could appropriate it.

Except he probably wouldn't have let Vala take over the ship to begin with. He's pretty tough that way.

Oh, god, had SG1 been in control of the ship, there'd have been no episode. That was the resounding feeling I had as they lost control.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

It's more than that, it's that most of the customs and culture are very, very much particular to the contemporary US, or the mythology of it. Being ladylike is indicated by high-heeled shoes, conservative suits with skirts, and pearl earrings. Women wear black and Jackie-o half-veils to funerals. Military funerals involve folding the flag over the dead person's coffin. Prisoners wear orange track suits.

I've tried to give up on tracking this, because the culture is never going to be sufficiently alien for me, and either I give up on the show or I accept this as one of its characteristics and move on.

Micole is me, here.

But...it's the same treatment we have. I'm ok with not a cure, but that it's obviously what we have, just with different words, irks me.

But what else would they have, if they haven't cured it yet? Cancer is what it is, you know?

Art Crawl!!!

You know, I'd much rather the at the BSG people wear stuff and work with stuff that is very analougous to what we wear now, rather than have them were freaky jumpsuit things as in Star Trek.

I enjoyed SG1 -- it's fun to see Claudia Black and I, admittedly, don't take SG1 at all seriously.

Hey, I watch Andromeda too. Well, I gave up on it and then started again.

They have actual avatars of celestial bodies in Andromeda. (Seriously, if Trance can be a sun, I don't see how the genetic copy of Drago whatisface being the the son of Tyr is that much of a stretch.)

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Seriously, if Trance can be a sun, I don't see how the genetic copy of Drago whatisface being the the son of Tyr is that much of a stretch.

The who with the what now?!?!? (I haven't been paying attention, even when I've had it on.)

I used to like that show so much.
