Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Wait, Penry-Jones? He's the brother of the guy that played Adam Duke on the Waking The Dead episode with the Sheperd, I bet. And the junior Penry Jones was briefly on Midsomer Murders last night, playing the younger version of Daddy Penry-Jones.
Good looking family.
Whew. So I was away all last week and finally saw the two most recent SG-1
(Harry! I didn't know there was going to be Harry! Yay!)
and Atlantis eps. Liked them both. SG-1 for the same sappy-hearted reasons as ita. Chortled at
Harry's sudden Ancient reading skills,
but I really don't care, because, as noted,
Jack! Off-world! With sunglasses and banter! The team! Together!
Ahem. Sorry.
Liked Atlantis for the whole thing, actually. Am having the same post-hiatus preference overall for the big A, which is disconcerting. Anyway. And loved the
not-so-fast-Skippy-this-is-our-potentia ending.
Go,
indigenous people.
And now I have some Lost, Alias, and Battlestar to catch up with next. I tell ya', one week away with no internet access...
*******
And Katie! With the hilarity (we knew that) and fame! And spot-on insightfulness, dontchaknow. Damn straight. (Wouldn't it be cool to know the trail from your LJ entry to that article?)
(Wouldn't it be cool to know the trail from your LJ entry to that article?)
Yes! I'm terribly curious.
I probably liked Aquarium about even with, or slightly less than Original Recipe -- because I didn't for a moment believe they'd
get the zed pee em.
And something about the
Wraith dart
failed to perk up the requisite anticipation in me. I guess, as long as the show is called
Aquarium Atlantis, they're going to be there, and cut off from Tauri.
Prove me wrong, guys, prove me wrong!
Heh. Yeah, point. But I did like the way
they ended up not getting it. I also like saying and hearing zedpm, though I have no idea why I get such joy from the zed/zee thing. But I do. The
dart
worked better for me before I knew that
it actually was a dart. I mean, that's what they speculated, of course. For whatever reason, I expected it to be Something Else.
Oh well.
I tell you what's surprising me is how much I am digging Battlestar. Because I really am. Oh, I meant to ask you, ita... you posted that something that they did to one of the characters just before the hiatus might potentially make the character less interesting. Who and what? I was looking for it, but I couldn't figure it out.
How far along in BG are you, JenP?
Yeah. It's how I felt about
Voyager, even before I knew how lame the stories would be.
There's only so many
failed attempts to get home I can stand before I lose interest, because you know that whatever they try, it ain't gonna work.
It's like being
spoiled for the end of
every episode.
I think they can have a decent shot at
making Atlantis more about exploring the area, than trying desperately to go home. Otherwise they have a grail with no suspense.
Ugh, I hope they make it
more about dealing with where they are and what they can find than about the quest for the zpm and home. I sort of liked that about the intro. - they made the "you may not get back, so be clear about your choice," point, so I'd hoped the focus would be on the destination instead of the return. I don't think they've gone over board with finding a way home, though. It's been fairly well focused on surviving Atlantis itself. Though, yeah, mentions of getting home, and "if we ever want to get home," are not infrequent. Anyway...
I've just gotten ep 10 of Battlestar, ita, but I haven't watched yet. The last one I saw had
the return of The Wife and Helo's Cylon's defection (can't remember her name). Oh wait, was it the
"You want to know what it's like to feel so intensely..." and the blond Cylon's reaction? I thought it was a little early (in the series) for Cylons to be wanting to have feelings and such. And defecting for them.
