I'm just waiting to see if I pass out. Long story.

Oh, well then:

Gemini:

Yeah, OK, the characters were all dumb doing dumb things, except Daniel, who wasn't around. Putting aside, you know, plot and all, I did think Amanda Tapping as actress did a stellar job making Replicator!Sam a totally different character from regular Sam, though. And, frankly, the smart one. But, I mean, the whole premise... yeah, let's trust the replicator because she looks like me, let her dig her replicator fingers into my brain and then into the schematics for the only weapon we have to defend ourselves, blah-bity-blah. Dumb.

Prometheus Unbound, can't watch until tonight.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

PU: Come on. He squished her head on the monitor. How can you not give in to that?

Man, you're a stronger woman than I.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Gemini: You know, twinning/doppleganger is really treasure mine for psychological head-fucking. They could have totally found a way for the Repli-Carter to achieve her goal while making the story interesting. Like, Repli-Carter has Carter's memories, right? Why not land on earth sneakily, kidnap Carter and have Repli-Carter in her place, subtly manipulating her loved ones and messing with their heads until she got her way? Or like Katie said, have her interact with Daniel, who's known for seeking humanity in the alien, and have him clash with Carter, who herself is conflicted but knows what must be done? And WTF is with Jack 'humoring' Real-Carter in her misguided ways with Teal'c as the fucking watchdog? If you have that much reservation, pull the goddamned plug in the operation and have the courage to do it to Carter's face, BRIGADIER GENERAL.

I'm also afraid that they would use this to demote Carter and have Browder's character, who has the same rank, command the unit above her. Which would piss me off but I wouldn't be able to fault them for it because of how colossally stupid Carter was in this episode. Grrrr.

RE Gemini: Well, I don't see why Sam should have to be the only one who ever pays promotion-wise for being a moron. I don't think the show wants us to be quite as hard on her as we're being (though she totally deserves it, and at least she said so at the end).

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I gotta give PU props to the squishing and the Mr. Olo. Otherwise, from the very moment Hammond took the chair, I was disengaged, and it just got worse. Why is Daniel the one running to wherever to access the controls from somewhere else? You couldn't find another way to have him left on the ship? And they went to rescue Aquarium with ~seven people?

Bah. Left me cold.

Also, I am a bad Farscape fan, because I didn't even catch the homage with the helmet coming off until someone mentioned it. In my defense, I didn't see the FS pilot until I'd been watching the show for years, so...

Oh, that homage did make me laugh too. I'm not quite all Prometheus grinchy. But I did wonder if it was homage or pandering. So I'm only mostly grinchy.

Posted a Five Things story for Stargate SG-1. Five Holidays That Jack O'Neill Never Celebrated. Spoilers through to season 6, rated PG. Mostly gen, a little slashiness implied.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Consuela, that was fabulous! I loved the fifth vignette muchly--I'd love to see more of that particular AU.

t blushes Thanks so much, Anne. It was very fun to write, and to come up with twists that hadn't been done to death in the fandom. And yeah, I ended up liking Lantash a lot. I think it would be a kick if they ever went that way. Not that they would, now, because of what happened to Jack. But then? They might have.
