Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
BB did say at con that he'd been doing a lot of writing, in between mowing the lawn and folding laundry and whatnot.
And, apparently, hanging out with the Stargate guys.
Apparently the Gateworld forums are in a tizzy -- there's all these people terrified BB's character will replace Jack. Which is so never gonna happen.
Hey, everyone! Ben Browder is becoming a regular cast member of Stargate SG-1!
Woo-hoo!
I don't know what kind of role they'll write for him, but it's gonna be difficult to look at him on screen and not expect Crichton-ish behavior. Especially if they put him in a figure-hugging black T-shirt with a weapon.
When they were talking about the fourth member of the team, I thought they'd bring in a *young* guy--you know, the smart, cocky kid with lots of charm, not much experience, yada yada, like Ford at
Atlantis
or S1 Danny in
Spooks.
Browder's in the same age group as MS and AT, so I'm curious to see how the power dynamic would play out. I mean, I assume they'd give Sam the command, and BB would probably come in as a military guy slightly below her rank--a Lieutenant maybe. Or he could be a civilian with some extraordinary ability, asked to join the team, but somehow I doubt that.
If they take command away from Sam, I'll be Very Pissy.
Man, I'm not even ready to speculate. My head's still spinning.

That's what I thought when my friend auditioned. But a genre draw is not to be sneezed at.
Maybe BB can be from the Secret Service, or some other govt section where he gets weapons and tactics, but isn't in the strict military hierarchy, and therefore can't outrank Sam. Or maybe, from a different country?
Or, maybe he's the new Fraiser.

This would make me happy. Mainly because I can't quite see BB as the junior officer, but I'm totally with Katie in DON'T YOU DARE TAKE COMMAND AWAY FROM SAM! camp.
I'd love for him to come in as a disapproving government antagonist of the Ronny Cox mold, someone who has to be convinced that the SG-1 program is in the right hands. I bet Browder could do sanctimonious Southern politician extremely well.

Didn't they do that already, kinda with Weir?
Maybe he could be from another branch of the service that would like a bit more involvement with/benefit from the Stargate program.

I really doubt that he'll be cast as a civilian, or if he is, it'll be as a civilian consultant like Daniel, who can carry weapons. And even then, it's unlikely -- as it is currently structured, SG-1 only has one military member. They won't have the world's premiere first-contact team consist of three civilians and a physicist/soldier.
They *could* cast him as a member of one of the other Armed Forces, some sort of liaison. Or -- and this just occurred to me -- he could be with the NID. The good part of the NID, like Agent Barrett.
I really don't see them taking command away from Sam. Not gonna happen. BB's a couple of years older than AT, and about 8 years older than MS (42 to 34). So either he's a Major, and subordinate, or he's outside the Air Force system altogether.

Dude. I don't want to be looking at Ben Browder, and be overcome by the urge to gag his mouth with a dirty sock, kick him in the nuts until they retract into his abdomen, and drown him in the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
Kinsey makes me twitch. Even the mention of his name fills me with rage. Stupid, one-dimensional cardboard suckass villain not worthy to suck Scorpius' toes.
I mean, it'd make me happy if they gave BB's character ambiguity and shady agenda (as long as they don't make him into a sexist pig who treats Sam like a girl, because then, I'll be force to reach into my TV screen and strangle him to death), but NOT IF THEY MAKE HIM LIKE KINSEY! Ptui!
::twitches::
Uhm, yeah. So, Kinsey wasn't my favorite character, is what I'm sayin'.
