I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Well, per our spoiler rules it isn't a spoiler. New regular. We can say he's been hired, yeah?

Steph: Yeah, I know, right? I expect to have a great deal of difficulty keeping a straight face.

RE Casting Spoiler: Man, this is going to be so weird. I just kinda want to take him aside and ask if he knows what he's getting into. I wonder if they'll let him write? You wouldn't think so, but then they did let Corin Nemec do story for an episode, so...

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It is, in fact under the "casting spoiler" clause, hence the calling it a spoiler.

But how? Is an actor's addition to the regular cast a casting spoiler, with no mention of role? My understanding, like Katie's is that it isn't.

eta: Christopher Judge has writing and story credits.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I agree with what ita had said several posts back about this being even less of a 'spoiler' than the whole Spike on Angel thing. It'll be impossible to avoid, especially on this thread where SG and FS are discussed right next to each other fer cryin' out loud, so I say we just call it a casting info we can talk about without white-fonting and be done with it. Yeah? 'Cause talking around it is going to be annoying. And coy.

Right, but he's been with the show for years. I figured the CN situation was more similar (though BB's written successfully for TV before.)

MS also wrote an episode last year, but frankly, as a writer he's very pretty.

Yeah, okay.

Hey, everyone! Ben Browder is becoming a regular cast member of Stargate SG-1!

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

That's just... neat.

Judge and Shanks had the familiarity with the show, and not with the art. I think that BB's actual resume should help -- but how soon? In S9?

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

BB did say at con that he'd been doing a lot of writing, in between mowing the lawn and folding laundry and whatnot.

And, apparently, hanging out with the Stargate guys.

Apparently the Gateworld forums are in a tizzy -- there's all these people terrified BB's character will replace Jack. Which is so never gonna happen.

Hey, everyone! Ben Browder is becoming a regular cast member of Stargate SG-1!

Woo-hoo!

I don't know what kind of role they'll write for him, but it's gonna be difficult to look at him on screen and not expect Crichton-ish behavior. Especially if they put him in a figure-hugging black T-shirt with a weapon.

When they were talking about the fourth member of the team, I thought they'd bring in a *young* guy--you know, the smart, cocky kid with lots of charm, not much experience, yada yada, like Ford at Atlantis or S1 Danny in Spooks. Browder's in the same age group as MS and AT, so I'm curious to see how the power dynamic would play out. I mean, I assume they'd give Sam the command, and BB would probably come in as a military guy slightly below her rank--a Lieutenant maybe. Or he could be a civilian with some extraordinary ability, asked to join the team, but somehow I doubt that.

If they take command away from Sam, I'll be Very Pissy.

Man, I'm not even ready to speculate. My head's still spinning.
