t growls at ita and her Spooks-having

It was only about 40% done when I left the house this morning.

I only watched about 10 or 15 minutes of the Earthsea thing. I simply couldn't handle it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It was worth being late for, in that can't-stop-now sort of way.

I have a plan.

It's rare that a show's badness would give me bad dreams about how bad it was. I congradulate Earthsea on it's sucess in that regard.

Danny Glover was good though, gotta give him kudos for nuance and style.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Yep. Harry Potter, Lord of the Earthsea.

I can see the pitch being made.

"I read this book once. Well, I skimmed the Cliff Notes. Anyway, I'm thinking we could totally do this, except, you know, punch it up a bit."

"I dunno, Harry Potter is pretty popular right now. Is it like Harry Potter?"

"It could be. There's a school, I think. And it has a hero of low birth."

"Great, make sure you play up any similarities. Any fighting? Swords? Costumes? Aurthurian medievally stuff is always good."

"Well, I'm not sure what costumes they had, I don't remember the Cliff Notes that well."

"No matter, just stick them in something medievally. Oh, and can the prince guy be a king? People like kings. Like Lord of the Rings, you know...stuff"

"I have no problem with that."

"Oh, and we have a lot of actors under contract we'd like as guest stars."

"Again, I have no problem with that."

"Oh! and Kristen Kreuk from Smallville said she's free about the time you're filming this. She's pretty. Can you—"

"—Now wait a minute! Um, uh. well ok. You're writing the check."

"Fine, fine. Have fun. Try not to be too wed to the book. Authors can be such babies. Just bring it in on time and under budget. Don't waste time on reshoots and rehearsing and original lines and stuff."

"Righto. Gotcha."

Where does the LJ Spooks discussion live?

Try Infinitemonkeys' LJ, ita. She's the one who was jumping up and down looking for someone to talk to about it.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I've never read the original. It wasn't any better.

So it fills even people who never read the series with an urge to avenge its desecration with violence against the screenwriter and director? Cool!

I do think that Glover actually read the novels, as he seemed to be playing his character as originally written rather than "re-imagined" to suit all the surrounding characters and plots. It's as if Ogion took a wrong turn somewhere and wandered into The Gnomish Bookends of Shannara by mistake.

What was the last episode of SG-1 you guys got? I think that we may have just moved ahead of you, but it wouldn't make a lot of sense, as I'm pretty sure we're still behind on Atlantis. I don't want to accidentaly spoil anyone. It could just be Sky One fucking stuff up, as is their wont.

We've seen through 8x10 for both series. Where are you?
