Man, I hate that episode, my enormous affection for GA notwithstanding.
Ah, but it was pretty.
I'm very glad they don't dwell, and I really like them ignoring it for stretches.
Well, yeah, except I fear that they're going to DO something with it. And when they bring it up at all, it feels clunky and out of place. This isn't the right show for that sort of thing, I guess, Daniel and Sha're's tragedy notwithstanding.
the argument in "2001"
Huh. You mean 2010, I think, yeah? And yeah, I liked that bit too. Pissy!Jack is a good thing.
You mean 2010
Right! Brain like a sieve, I tell ya.
Much as I love the cabin scene, the dubbed dialog drives me nuts. RDA is bringing the bitterness and the angst, but you can't hear it as well in AT's voice. But I forgive Sam because she looks dynamite hot in her skin-tight jeans and her long white coat in that scene.
the dubbed dialog drives me nuts
Yeah, what's the deal with that? Just too loud outside and they had to ADR? They didn't do a very good job. They should talk to the Farscape folks, who have to ADR 75% of their dialog.
There was also the episode in which Scully suddenly got a personality transplant and started believing all kinds of new agey mumbo-jumbo ("All Things") which has Scully falling asleep on the couch in Mulder's apartment. Man, I hate that episode, my enormous affection for GA notwithstanding.
The best part of that episode was her gratuitous "Look at my breasts!" shot. Next best, the floating Buddha or whatever the fuck it was.
I fear that they're going to DO something with it.
I don't feel they're building towards anything, and hope that there's no last gasp throw them together to end the series thing -- but that's me fearing the worst, not thinking that there's anything pointing in that direction.
My understanding (from the commentary? I think) is that TPTB initially had the characters say "Ashen" (the alien race that snuck in the anti-fertility bio-engineering crap into the panacea) with the accent in the first syllable, then changed their mind about the pronunciation later in the filming and had the characters say it as a-SHEN. Because they had already filmed AT saying "Ashen" several times in the cabin scene with the first-syllable emphasis, they had to dub the dialog later with her pronouncing it the *right* way. Which is a lame-ass reason for interfering with the flow of a very important scene if you ask me, but ehh, WTF do I know?
Well, they did a crap job of it. I guess ADR is a skill like many other aspects of acting, and not one possessed by everyone.
Have shamelessly abused the T1 line at work to download the first unaired SG:Atlantis episode (uhhh, the IT guys could probably trace that I'm doing that, right? :nervous:) and just finished watching it. The
badass Shep
is of the HOTT.

Also, wow, lots of nibbles for potential
Sheppard/Weir shippers. Too bad the actors don't have much in the way of chemistry together. Also, LOVE McKay.
Writing for Teyla is still problematic but she could have been made into a palatable character if she were played an actress who possessed even an iota of gravitas. Sigh.
I am slow, so I only came across this Joe Flanigan interview just now. Aw! He's kind of adorable, damn him.
Yeah, the Teyla actress is hopelessly flutey and unimposing.
