I go online sometimes, but everyone's spelling is really bad. It's... depressing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

What does it say about Daniel that he's always the guy to point out "you can do anything you want!" to Jack?

He's angling for something -- even if it's something he won't remember.

... within reason.

Heee.

If it doesn't work out--and I'd be wildly surprised if they actually get married, though I suppose it's possible--I'm kind of rooting for him to leave her.

Huh. That would be interesting. I do wonder: Jack presumably never told Sara what it was he did when he was gone on missions. How much did that have an impact on the health of his marriage, Charlie's death notwithstanding?

And if Sam marries Pete, how much difference would it make that it would be Sam, the woman, going off and doing dangerous things she can't talk about?

Speaking of "Affinity", did anyone else think it was odd that the NID has a ring transporter? And if so, doesn't that mean they have a ship too? Where'd they get a ship?

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I'm not convinced those guys were NID. I was thinking some clever go'auld who have learned to imitate their hosts.

I'd thought Daniel had said something that made them sound like an NID-offshoot, not NID themselves. Which was neither confirmed nor denied.

Also, they never showed the rings, unless I blinked at the wrong time. Perhaps it was a money-saving thing, but I'd thought it was some other technology being used.

Okay -- I checked -- ex-NID. Did the NID fold? And they don't show the rings. Didn't sound precisely like them to me either, but I don't have any eps with rings on TiVo to check quickly.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I believe the NID are theoretically on the side of the angels again. They didn't show rings; all they showed was a flash of light, which I think was yellow.

Ah. I thought it seemed pretty clear it was a ring transporter, from the flash of light and the sound. Asgard beaming technology is silent, yes?

And yes, ex-NID. The Trust? I forget where we learned about them. Heroes?

It also bothered me they had zats, but I shouldn't be surprised. Area 51 has seive-like security, clearly.

Katie's right -- the light was yellow, not the traditional blue.

They may have a completely different source of tech, though. No reason to assume that the NID couldn't make some sordid bedfellows while they were gallivanting from gate to gate.

It didn't occur to me that they were vanilla NID.

I don't think we've heard of "The Trust" before, but we met the Stargate equivalent of the Consortium in... crap. The one in S6 where Jack was framed. I don't remember the title.

Yeah, I kind of felt like the transportation was deliberately off-screen, and similar enough to make us go, "hmmm ... was it or wasn't it?" I'm expecting there to be fallout that harkens back to this ep. I may be expecting too much.
