I'll probably grab and watch later

This is my plan. But I'm not much with willpower. I mean, I can easily not go where spoilers are. But, if spoilers are sitting on a tape in my VCR ... well, that's more like them coming to me. They might as well be chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream in my freezer at that point.

But I'm going to try. Either way, I don't really get too bummed by accidental SG spoilage (See that? Laying the groundwork to cheat even now).

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Or... should I? I understand previous previews were spoilery as hell.

Depends on how spoiled you want to be, I suppose. Last year they had clips from the first four or so episodes, along with a clip from Heroes, but they had a whole hour to work with. The commercials only show one clip from a new episode, and that's a behind-the-scenes shot, but... tough to know.

I'd watch it and let you know, but I won't be back until Thursday, so you'd have to live with temptation.

So I watched Lost City Part 2 again last night. And something caught me that I didn't realize on the first round. Downloading the Ancients' database into Jack's brain gives him healing powers? The Hell?

That's just weird.

Oh, and the Sam angst was way over the top. Most annoying. Still, it was nice to see Kinsey get fired. I do hope they give the man an agenda other than power-hungry maniac, because his shtick is getting old.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Well, if the Asgards can remove the excess lairning from Jack's brain with a wave of their hand in "The Fifth Race," perhaps the ancients developed abilities that could heal...

It did take a lot out of him to heal, tho.

All is well that ends in pizza.

Plus? It's Stargate. They talk to people on other worlds without a translating gimmick, they manage to almost always hit during daylight, and the gates are almost always in remote areas.

Just once I'd like to see them come out of the gate and see an entire tourist trap town surrounding the gate. Stores filled with gate-derived merchandise for them to gawk at might be cool.

Jack picks up a key ring for himself, and an extra for Jack II.

While we're at it, I think Jack II should come back for a few eps.

I have a plan.

Which Jack II are y'all thinking about? Robo-Jack or Teen-Jack?

Teen Jack.

Good point.

See, I was thinking of Jake 2.0 the series, and...

Besides, didn't Robo-Jack die? I think he did.

I can handwave the daylight arrivals as them finding out what time it is from the MALP. And I've given up on the translation thing. But what Jack got from the Ancients was purely data, I thought, not new paranormal abilities.

I dunno. It's too close to magic being exhibited by a normal human for me to swallow. ::shrugs::

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe the data is how to work our natural abilities to ... I dunno.

I hateHATEhated the implication that Jack has a special brain/genetics (that was mentioned in the Jack 2.0 episode). Keep him normal, thanks. (Though not dumb, RDA, if you could)
