Well, casting Lana as Clark's mother was a perversity from day one, but I always thought casting one of "dem Duke boys" as Clark's dad was actually more of a perversity.

I thought that was an excellent Smallville possibly because it was mostly Lex and Lionel.

That's always been the best thing about the show. The first episode I ever saw was the first season finale, and what hooked me was the brilliant setup of Lex's having to choose whether or not to let his father die trapped under a column.
