Fandom tends to do that, though. Pick up on characters. Look at all the Devon fic out there. I couldn't pick Devon out of a lineup of minor BtVS characters.
Oh, I know, but it puzzles me with Devon too. (As opposed to, say, Ethan, who is a tertiary character who makes sense to me as a locus for fanfic.)

The funny thing to me about that one is that Jack is, on the show, not actually so much of the slut. I mean, he has two offworld love interests in seven years, and his thing with Carter, and his feelings for his ex-wife.

Stargate Cantina (the second vid on the site) is a vid set to "Star Wars Cantina". It's insane how closely SG maps onto SW. Except for poor Teal'c, who got stuck with Chewbacca. It's frickin' priceless.

Like Katie said, Jack barely got it on with anyone after S3, but what can I say? The man vibes with everyone. Seriously, and I don't mean that sexually necessarily. RDA has kick-ass chemistry with all the regulars, semi-regulars (Harry, Thor, Jacob et al.), and even random guest stars. It's uncanny, yo.
I've never got the Devon thing. He's dumb as rocks and not even that cute. Where's the appeal? As for Paul Davis--he's a cutie-pie, and like someone has said a while back, he's probably got platonic crushes on all the members of the SG-1, which is kind of adorable. But I gotta agree that the dude is pretty bland, personality-wise. I don't see much that's fanfic-worthy about him.
