Vonnie, from what I can see, this is a bit of a TiVo failing/feature.

The 7pm airings look like straight season one, although The Passenger seems to be missing. They're also doing an "Uncut" thing where they show two parters back to back. Which is why The Maquis 1/2 is airing on the 16th from 9-11, and Past Tense 1/2 a week later.

Nothing quite offset the loss of Jadzia though. While I came to like the actress well enough, and some of her charcter arc, if they had to replace Terry Ferrell, they should have brought Dax back as a man, and not as Ally McTrill.

Yeah, but since they'd already established the Worf/Jadzia romance, doing that would have forced Berman & Braga to deal with issues of gender and sexuality. I think they both would have fled the show in a panic before writing anything dealing with those subjects.

But were Berman & Braga that involved? I thought DS9 was that other guy's project. Wasn't that Ron Moore? Or wassname Wolfe?

I remember reading a longass screed from a guy who worked on DS9 and then moved over to Voyager when DS9 ended, and was simply appalled at the difference. It was very entertaining.

Berman was definitely involved - AFAIK he's been exec producer of all the post-Original Treks. But I think you're right - so great is Braga's perfidy in my mind that I imagine his influence spreading backwards in time to assassinate characterization and confuse continuity before he was even hired on the shows.

Robert Hewitt Wolfe was the producer who made the first season of Andromeda so interesting... and who got fired off the show, leading to its very sad decline. Other producers of note on DS9 were Rene Echeverria and Ira Steven Behr, so if you see their names popping up on other series, you'll probably be advised to check them out if they're got any executive power in series direction and conception. (Echeverria was involved in Now & Again, about the regular suburban guy who gets transplanted into a perfect weapon body while he pines for his wife and child, for instance.)

OK. That was fun. shalott is a kick to read. For me, the J/D slash doesn't really ... fit? I dunno. I have trouble with the Jack part of it. He's just not all that slashable for me. Daniel on the other hand ... sure. I thought she did a nice job with Jack's voice especially, and it was, you know, an actual story. And the sex in front of the aliens one had some good funny going on.

Now, Angel and Smallville slash I can buy in all kinds of permutations, because, hell, that's what they're selling. Just ... Jack. I dunno. I can't get myself there. Which is fine. Enjoyed the read anyway.

Was he with Voyager first season? And did he jump ship (or get the axe) pretty much around the same time? Because that would explain why Voyager started out OK, and then quickly started sucking as any inter-personal confrontations got swept under the rug of warm-fuzzies and temporal distortions.

And total wrod, Matt, on why that didn't happen. Can you imagine how the ME folks would have handled a similar scenario, especially anyone from the House of HoYay aka Angel?

Whew. I checked my TiVo to-do list before I left for work this morning, and you're right. The weekday run is early season 1, with the weekend airing being the two-parters. Now, the dilemma is, to watch or not to watch the weekend episodes despite the chronological wackiness? Hmm.

I have trouble with the Jack part of it. He's just not all that slashable for me. Daniel on the other hand ... sure.

This is where I was when I first started reading SG fic. I just could not see Jack as anything but unwaveringly straight. But then, I hung around the slashers for a year, and now, I kind of see the subtexts enough to enjoy reading J/D. Truth be spoken though, I'm still thrilled the most with friendshippy & plotty gen with good team interactions and the subtext remaining squarely sub, but that's just me.

BTW, if you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check out shalott's Silence of the Lambs vid, "Uninvited", which you can download from her site. Beautiful, creepy, mesmerizing, and guaranteed to give you the major wiggins. The last shot of the vid kills me in a way that makes me uncomfortable to dwell on it for too long.

He didn't join until the second or third season of Voyager, because there was overlap between the end of DS9 and the start of Voyager. Remember, both shows had tribute episodes to TOS for the 30th anniversary of Star Trek. DS9 came up with the outstanding "Trials and Tribbilations", while Voyager came up with the epsiode that flash-backed to Captain Sulu and his ship Excelsior, although the episode was entirely in Tuvok's mind.
