Early: Where'd she go? Simon: I can't keep track of her when she's not incorporeally possessing a space ship. Don't look at me.

'Objects In Space'

Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Which means the Exotic and Feisty Young Beauty (a stereotype I dislike) will be the character the boy(s) will be falling for. There better not be a within-team fight for her affection or any crap like that.

Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am that SG-1 has never gone there? Very, that's how grateful.

Thanks askye. I've got a Borders gift certificate and apparently their online shopping is done through Amazon, so I can get started.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Oh God, yes. I'd go as far to say lack of (overt) romance is one of the reasons the team dynamic has remained intact all these years. There is a good reason that a large part of S3 Angel was so cringe-inducing.

OK, I've just been to the SG Atlantis Universe page (basic spoilers for the premise of the show within). It cracks me up that they are finally bringing up the issue of translation device after all these years. It also looks like there may be more of non-human-looking aliens on the show, which should be interesting.

It cracks me up

Me too. I laughed like a loon imagining the writers saying "that's it! I'm never answering that goddamn question again! We'll show them!"

you can call me bob.

I caught a show on PBS this morning called MythQuest. I don't recall ever noticing it on the Dallas PBS stations (I'm in NY right now). Has anyone else ever seen it? I was really impressed by the quality. The stories revolve around a brother and sister who become part of mythical stories through a cyber gateway of some kind. It is definitely for children but it's the kind of thing a kid who loves Madeleine L'engle or the Chronicles of Narnia would latch on to. In other words, if I had seen it when I was 9 or 10 I would have been completely hooked. I gather from what little I have found on the internet that it is Canadian and there was only one season made in 2001. But I can't figure out if it is gone forever or in limbo because of funding.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'd guess it's gone forever, as these things go.

I can always hope for DVD's.

Gyaah. I am so tired of saying that.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I have thoughts about Batman, and second the rec of Year One, and to a lesser extent Killing Joke. I didn't like DKR at all, because it took the subtext thing and subtracted the sub-. Also, tiny tiny bit over the top.

I don't know as how this is the thread to discuss it, but would someone care to convince me why Batman has sidekicks? I never really got it, and I still don't get it, and I wonder if anyone could go into detail on the matter. My concept of Batman is more along the "I walk alone" lines, than "I walk alone with my young hanger-on ____".

Maybe I just have a psychological problem with sidekicks.

Read the intro essay in Batman: Dark Victory. It does a good job of making it make sense. I think, though, Amych would be the person who could answer that question. For me, I'm finding I prefer the stories of the rest of the Batfamily the more I get into the Batfamily, because while I adore Bats himself, he's very rigid by design, and without the extended network of people he cares about despite himself, it would get hella boring real quick. They keep him on the edge of humanity. Without them, he'd have crossed over a long time ago.
