Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
I'm watching "Redemption 2" for the first time right now, and I *loved* that conversation between Carter and McKay in the infirmary. I know he can be a prick, but that piano confession was just the right mixture of the bizarre, the dorkalicious, and kinda sorta adorable. The fact that Carter was both creeped out and rolling her eyes in disbelief for the entire conversation? Totally a plus.
I'm now psyched that McKay is gonna be in Atlantis. Neat-o.
I'm actually rather pleased with myself-- I only have the Year Ones for Babs and Dick left, and Robin:A Hero Reborn.
You *must* get Batgirl: Year One.
I still don't have the Robin: Year One TPB. But I have reasons for that, involving my random stack of comics.
A Hero Reborn, were it titled like an episode of Friends, would be known as "The one with the gay teen stalker." Honest. I was trying to explain it at dinner tonight.
Redemption is what season, Vonnie?
What's the scoop on Stargate: Aquarium, anyway? (sorry, I saw that online and loved it too much not to use it.) Does it look promising?

I'm not Vonnie, but I can answer. Season 6 opener.

There really isn't much of one outside of the basic premise and some spoilers for the first episode. It looks... well, it looks a lot like Stargate, except there will be water, and ships. (Er, spaceship equivalents, not sailing ships. Though that would be kind of fun. Pirate Stargate!)
I'll give it the old three-episode try; I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to genre, so I'll be surprised if it's not good enough for me to watch. This does not, of course, imply that it will be actually good. I suspect there will be more Romance, seeing as this time the girl's a civilian.
Damned sexy superheoes, with their severe psychological problems and tight spandex.
This just needed to be repeated. Because, um... I can be really shallow sometimes.

t adds that one to her TPB list
Yeap, what Katie and Daniel said.
Actually, I liked the Redemption two-parter well enough that it tipped me over to ordering the season 6 DVDs. Of course, I do have a trigger-happy finger when it comes to ordering DVDs.

Hmm, this worries me a bit. The Dr. Weir character is supposed to be the Hammond-equivalent, right? So we won't get to see her much in action. Which means the Exotic and Feisty Young Beauty (a stereotype I dislike) will be the character the boy(s) will be falling for. There better not be a within-team fight for her affection or any crap like that.
I believe the show has many of the same writers and crew, so a lot will depend on the chemistry among the team-mates. Personally, I'll be pleasantly surprised if the Atlantis team could approach the sheer likability of the SG-1. Still, I'll probably be watching at least the first season, even if it's not very good.

Have I mentioned lately how grateful I am that SG-1 has never gone there? Very, that's how grateful.
Thanks askye. I've got a Borders gift certificate and apparently their online shopping is done through Amazon, so I can get started.

Oh God, yes. I'd go as far to say lack of (overt) romance is one of the reasons the team dynamic has remained intact all these years. There is a good reason that a large part of S3 Angel was so cringe-inducing.
OK, I've just been to the SG Atlantis Universe page (basic spoilers for the premise of the show within). It cracks me up that they are finally bringing up the issue of

after all these years. It also looks like there may be more of non-human-looking aliens on the show, which should be interesting.
