I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Jonas is so eager and squeaky-clean. They shoulda given him some flaws. The long time fans must have hated him. The poor guy.

Yeah, it was Riley all over again. I came to like him, but for a majority of S6 he veered wildly between Too Perfect and Completely Lacking In Personality, with occasional detours into Shit, We Need Someone To Say Daniel's Lines.

Ba'al comes back in Homecoming, the second episode of S7, and then... I seem to think one other time later in S7, but I can't remember for sure.

Shit, We Need Someone To Say Daniel's Lines.

Heh.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I gotta see Abyss again. I didn't get to see it until I caught up with most of the rest of the series, and when I finally got to watch it, I was kind of off my gourd on cold medicine. My main reaction at the end of the episode, IIRC, was, "huh."

Haven't bought the S6 DVDs yet. Not as enamored of that season as I am with seasons 1-5, or 7 for that matter, but that may be because I watched it wildly out of order and context.

Heh. Right on the money. I don't dislike him or anything, but most of the time, he's just... there. Too bad the character off whom he sparked the best happened to be Daniel.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Maybe Crichton's helmet was to protect against g-forces, or shield him from those cosmic ray particles that make flashes of light occur inside astronaut's eyes?

I have no explanations for Jonas.

Oh my God. Ry'ac is such a brat. Grow the fuck up already. He's like Connor at his whiniest. (It doesn't help that kid who plays him is terrible.)

Huh. Some heavy foreshadowing w/r/t tretonin in this episode. I'm still unclear where tretonin is supposed to come from. I have it in mind that it is some kind of ground symbiote powder, except that sounds wrong. The entire mid-S6 is kind of fuzzy to me.

No, you're right, it's a Tok'ra adaptation of ground symbiote from... that planet where Jonas was an archeologist, and flirted with some girl. Please not to be thinking about where they're getting the symbiote, or what's going to happen at some point in the future when humans discover that Jaffa get this cool drug that makes them live much longer and healthier lives, but no you can't have any because after all there's only so much symbiote to go around...

Yeeeeah, I kind of remember it. Maybe. Is it the episode with the ailing Queen Tok'ra? Uh, no. I think that's some other episode. Damn.

If tretonin is ground symbiote, then where is all the proud declaration of "We're finally free from our need for symbiotes!" coming from? The whole plot is kind of wacked, yo. Maybe they pulled the whole thing out of their asses 'cause they just ran out of the CGI money for the baby snakes and the pouch, having blown it all on explosives.

Yeah, that's the one, where the Tok'ra are all "no, that's cool, experiment all you want" until they realize it's one of theirs. This is also the one where a five-foot slug as big around as a 55-gallon drum manages to fit itself into the brain stem of a normally sized host.

You're thinking again, aren't you? We've talked about that.

(I suppose one could assume that the Tok'ra aren't using actual ground symbiote, and have learned to, like, synthesize fake ground symbiote. Like NutraSymbiote, or something. They've never said so, though.)

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yes, because grinding up sentient beings for (essentially) food is generally considered wrong.
