Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
it's all "you should move on" "we will never speak of this again."
See, now, the latter is kind of cute. The former is... presumptuous.
And what ever did happen to Sam's boyfriend? He's not dead, he's been removed from the universe!
SciFi is airing the episodes in random order, I think. I saw the Death of Apophis arc on Monday and then last night I saw the one which introduced Tanith, which cleared up for me the deal with Peter Wingfield.
But I still don't understand the Tok'ra. They're Gao'uld but they're nice?
And they call Terrans Tauri because?
The former is... presumptuous.
Well, it was her subconscious manifesting as Jack that said it, so it was okay.
I think Sci Fi is airing the eps in three orders -- you have the Monday 7,8,9,10 block, the weekdays at 6 block, and then Fridays you have one or two current season episodes.
Confusing as all hell.
The Tok'ra have symbiotes from a renegade Goa'uld queen -- they're cooperative. And dying out.
I think Tauri is Jaffa for Earth and Earthlings.
I think Sci Fi is airing the eps in three orders -- you have the Monday 7,8,9,10 block, the weekdays at 6 block, and then Fridays you have one or two current season episodes.
Yeah. (Monday at 6 is part of the weekdays at 6 thing, not the other thing.)
Weekdays at 6 is currently in the middle of the 4th season. The four-block on Mondays just started the 5th season. The Friday thing that they put in because everything else they try to show on Fridays fails horribly is the beginning of the 7th season. The syndicated version, which in my market is shown on FOX, is in the 6th season. I'm told Sci-Fi actually airs programs other than Stargate, but I don't believe it.
(ETA: In my defense, I did have to look all that up.)
The Tok'ra get introduced and explained in the middle of S2. Just hang out. It all comes around again eventually.
I'm told Sci-Fi actually airs programs other than Stargate, but I don't believe it.
They used to show Codename: Eternity with my sekrit boyfriend Cameron Bancroft, but Friday's so damned busy with Wonderfalls, Stargate, Monk and Touching Evil. Wait, I think Monk's done. So that's something.
Yeah, Monk ended and Touching Evil started.
So my Friday: Joan, Jaye, Jordan, Jack and Touching Evil. Assuming it's on at 11 and not later. Then, I'll tape it.
Kinda-meara;
No, but it makes me sad, because I really, really liked Jessica Steen's Weir.
Tell me about it. On the other hand, the actress who's replacing her has a kind of non-flashy attractiveness with an intelligent-looking face (from the black and white photo in the link, at least.) Jessica Steen was excellent, but I thought she looked too much like Sam.
And yet in D&C in the last bit where Jack's testifying again, they're standing up. Is this retconning to show they were "lying"?
I can't remember the details, but they shot some extra scenes from that force-field scene specifically for Divide and Conquer. It's very possible they made a continuity flub when they put the scenes together.
I guess you can say D&C is the zenith of J/S shippiness in this universe in terms of articulation of the feelings from both parts. Personally, my fave quasi-'ship ep is 2010, but that's because I adore the bitterness and the subtlety and the untold backstory from the cabin scene so much. It's a very slow-burning, barely-there kind of relationship, but still substantial enough to be a source of annoyance to the slashers and too puny to be of much satisfaction to the shippers. Personally, I really like the way they have handled that aspect of the show. (However, I'll be mighty unhappy if the two actually end up having a relationship on the show.)
But, G'Kar was put through some pretty torturous seasons on Bab 5, due mainly to Londo. Literally torturous at quite a few points, so that might be why.
Hmm. But doesn't woobiedom require a big oost factor? I mean, I really liked G'Kar (from what little I've seen of him)--his voice, in particular, is a fabulous instrument--but his looks aren't exactly the kind desktop wallpapers are made of.
So my Friday: Joan, Jaye, Jordan, Jack and Touching Evil.
I've only got Joan, Jaye and Jack, and it's already too much. I can't watch more than two shows fannishly on a given night. Currently, Joan's off for a few weeks and SG will go into the long-ass hiatus until summer, so I've only got WF on Friday, thank God.
Well, Jordon is only on this Friday (some special thing were NBC ran it last Friday and this Friday in addition to it's regular Sunday spot.)
I'd forgotten that there was no new Joan!
It's very possible they made a continuity flub when they put the scenes together.
or the "continuity flub" was the point. In the original testimony Sam was on the floor when the field went down, in the final testimony Sam was facing Jack after he yelled "No!"
Which means we got "doctored footage" in Upgrades, really. Heh. This could get very meta, and I'm sure there's a long string of Usenet or mailing list posts about this.
Torri's really gorgeous, but in an understated way, I feel. And she has a lovely smokey voice.
I can't imagine her with the same gravitas as Jessica Steen, but I really can't imagine Jessica Steen on an SG team.
Why is G'Kar (from Babylon 5) on TheWoobie list? I've only watched B5 sporadically, but isn't G'Kar like, the epitome of dignified WarriorDude/WarriorPoet with a touch of "You killed my father! Prepare to die!"? I mean, he'd probably either look at you disdainfully or spit in your eye if you offered him comfort sex.
I didn't put him there, but I wasn't shocked to see him there.
This could be as a result of the G'Kar Woobie icon I made at some point for amych.
