Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

folks are not going to let go of their woobie when Lex starts turning evil in earnest

I realise this ... which is why I never want him to turn evil.

Also because I think the only good work on the show is him (and Chloe, to a lesser extent) walking that fine line. Once he picks a side, I don't think he'll be as interesting. Oh, he'll still be MR, but not need so much comforting.

I'd kinda woobify Oz, but he doesn't need it. He's just so wee and so cute ...

Xander, maybe, S7. Maybe.

Yeah, exactly. I've got my battle scars, because I used to love the character A LOT back in the day (well, I still like him OK, but the thrill is gone) and I belonged to a couple of big Spike-centric lists on which woobification ran so rampant, I had to leave for the sake of my blood
pressure.

I still enjoy the character of Spike but now only woobify him when I re-watch certain scenes.

I think I can let go of the wooby if Lex starts turning actively evil. But I don't want Lex to really start becoming evil until it gets close to the end of the series.

I agree.

One of the great things about Season one was the dynamic between Clark and Lex. The episodes I like most this season focused on their relationship.

And there've been precious few. MR makes everything better, but even he's challenged by KK.

KK is Preternaturally Powerful Pink Princess. I'm not who or what could defeat her. Maybe Lionel giving her shock treatments?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Huh. You are as me.

(I actually thought the one in which Lex was driven insane by his father was pretty good. I stuck around for a couple of eps when it came back from hiatus, hoping for the same, and... well, the show went to the crapper again so I stopped),

Like, freaky so. Only woobie as a term cracks me up. I blame Te's "Joe Dick: Seekrit Woobie" icon for that.

Morior. Gus gave me the word. I'm guessing that "Morior salutat" would be the description for the look that Jack gives over his shoulder when he's walking off to be dissected in "Divide & Conquer."

Shippy as it may sound, that episode is one of my favourites. RDA is so marvellous.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Oh, I don't even like J/S and I like Divide and Conquer a lot. For the Big Ship Episode, it's really pretty darn teamy.

Writing up LC 2 now. ita's gonna love that scene. No, that one, there.

A little short on Teal'c, but Jack's very good, and we do have the death of Martouf.

STOP TAUNTING ME.

Sadly, I'm getting cable modem just as there's not so much I'll be torrenting.

Ah, well.

Everyone together now: Poor Martouf.

Aw, man, no more taunting? Okay. I'm just sayin', good scene.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Morior salutat

Huh? What does this mean? Is this, like "Last look before death" or something? t /ignorant of all things Latin. Well, I think it's Latin but I could be mistaken there

I do love that look dearly. Plus, "Well, maybe it'll help Carter. Her brain is worth a lot more than mine." It's the rueful smile on his face during that last line that absolutely kills me. It's one of my favorite J/S bits ever, despite the fact I'm not too fond of the actual Zay'tac-induced confessions that come later.

The penultimate scene in Solitudes (which is not really all that shippy), with Jack telling the story of his escape from the Iraqui prison and later on, Sam saying, "I'm here, Jack. You can sleep now." to the unconscious Jack is still my top J/S moment in the series, I think. Well, that or the cabin scene in 2010, except Sam's looped dialogue there drives me nuts.

ETA: Yeah, Katie. Dude! With the taunting! Eeevil.

Also: Poor Martouf.
