The kittens are a board devoted to Willow/Tara. As you might imagine, Tara's death did not go over very well there.
Aaand DXM takes the 2004 award for understatement. For those not in the know, members of the board in question lobbied to have Firefly cancelled to punish Joss for killing Tara a year after "Seeing Red" aired. And attempted to mislead Dark Angel fans into thinking Joss had gotten their show cancelled to stir up more furor and illwill.
there's still a really scary Danielite contingent out there which is the only thing that makes me wish I really liked the J/S, just to irritate them.
You know, I like Jack/Sam when I'm in the mood. I'd be game to irritate them, provided I get hazard pay.

Yeah, they went as far as boycotting Firefly, because Joss Whedon was obviously a homophobic scum who NEEDED TO BE STOPPED! I recall they actually wrote to all kinds of potential advertisers to tell them to pull their ads from the FF time slot. Ye Gods.
Ah, OK, got it.
OK, clearly I was wrong about that.
FWIW, some of them read here, so we've been circumlocutous (of b.org) ((sorry)) about naming names.
BWah, ita.
Thanks for the link, Katie. It's interesting to read about all the fandom follies involving one season or another, because I"m just cruising along watching episodes in any old order. I have NO idea of the greater chronology of what I'm watching. It's very soothing.
((sorry))
And I was just about to start taking you seriously this week.
circumlocutous (of b.org) ((sorry))
Are you kidding? I'm still laughing. In fact, I meant to COMM that M-verse exchange, now that I think about it.
Yikes. Sorry. I didn't mean to stir things up.

Excerpt;
So beloved is Dr. Daniel Jackson that male fans in "Stargate" newsgroup discussions tend to tiptoe around the character in deference to women's feelings. In one recent online discussion, a young man made the mistake of "dissing the geek" but was quickly brought into line by other men in the group. One, called "Unbeliever," warned the Daniel-disser he would be "so dead" when women read his post. Another male respondent said he was retiring to a bunker for a few weeks in hopes that when he emerged there might be "a couple of cities still standing." A third, called "DeathBunny," explained: "You miss his appeal. From listening to the female-types around here, he has one of the most appealing of attributes in a non-significant-other person: A cute guy that needs mothering. Because of it, he's a babe-magnet and therefore it's taboo to rag on him."
"I love those expressive blue eyes that light up with the thrill of discovery."
"We had Gilgamesh, Ulysses, Beowulf, Don Quixote, David Copperfield and now Daniel Jackson,"
I mean, I like Daniel A LOT, but duuuude. The thought of someone writing that last bit in complete seriousness cracks me the hell up.

I didn't realize Dr. Daniel Jackson was such a woobie. He's got many of the Wesley traits. Did Ple put Woobie into Gus' wiki yet?
Heh. Must send that last sentence to erinaceous.
