I sort of think that the Skittles treatment could have been hilarious and wrong, if it had been done in the teaser of an episode. As something in the tag (even of a not-season-ender), it was too obviously manipulative and therefore lame. There's hanging a lampshade on your mistakes, and then there's doing the funky chicken with the lampshade on your head.

But despite all the problems with Season 4, I still loved John Quixote and Unrealized Reality.
Except for the rule in Unrealized Reality about "when you go through a wormhole, you jump into the 'you' of that time and place" being *immediately* violated in the very. next. episode.
That said, I liked a lot of S4, but it was my first season. So I had nothing to compare it against (other than the final four of S3, which were right up there with "Surprise"/"Innocence"/"Passion" in my pantheon of Fucking Amazing Teevee).

I had a Stargate thought last night. In fact I'm not sure why I didn't make the connection before.
Completely unspoiled, except for the news of the second Stargate Live action series.
They've been looking for the Lost City of the Ancients.
The name of the new series will be Stargate: Atlantis.

Late to the convo, but Stargate=good, juicy, yummy, must-have hamburger is perfect. But no avocado, because, ewww. I'm down with bacon, jack, mushrooms, though. Mmmmmmm.
While the Chris Judge video diary on the S5 DVDs was fab, the Michael Shanks video diary is just kinda silly/goofy ... he runs around the set shooting random things and people. I mean, it's fine if you're getting the DVD anyway, but not like the CJ one, which is worth Netflixing even if you don't necessarily want to see the eps again (although ... Wormhole X-treme. IJS).

This was my problem, although my overall problems with season 4 seem to be less than ita/Nutty/DX (waves at the New Englanders) have had. Mostly, there seemed to be a lot of stuff set up (Tormented! Space! / Aeryn's mysterious side career / Scorpy on Moya / even Granny) that NEVER paid off in any satisfying way, despite loads of potential.
But the very end? So lame. "Let's bring in some brand new aliens in the last minute to 'kill' them." If it had at least been Scorpy or SOMEBODY we had a prior investment in, it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. Even one of Stark's clones would have been more satifying (can't remember if there were any left).
