I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

He's actually on-set something like nine days out of the month, if I remember correctly - they're filming three episodes at a time and saving up all the Jack-scenes to do in big lumps. Apparently they were doing two Sam's-in-danger episodes at the same time at one point; Michael Shanks commented later that he was doing scenes where he wasn't entirely sure what Sam's problem was, but she was in trouble and needed help, dammit!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I hope it works better for us than ASH's disappearance from Buffy.

Well, there's been half a season so far -- how did it feel to you?

Hilarious.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Katie, where did you get the info? Is there an article or interview out there?

Um. Yes? But I've no idea where I would find a cite for the RDA thing now.

The anecdote from MS I can find, since that was recent - it's here. Tiny spoiler for Death Knell and some very speculative talk about what MS would write about were he to write an episode in S8.

All is well that ends in pizza.

_ pure speculation_

Theoretically this is RDA's last season, too. (ETA: It has been claimed and speculated, but I have no firm info)

Of course, inf true, next year they could just write Jack out of the series by having him retire to marry Carter.

This would lead to A.) Happier Carter, B.) Happier Jack. and C.) Jack to connect with Jack 2.0 offscreen, and, most of all, an out for special guest star Jack.

Are you guessing that, or is it a casting spoiler?

I know Katie was speculating elsewhere on how that scenario wouldn't work, and I agree with her.

That's why I noted speculation, as I really don't know fact from rumor. I'm not spoiled, but there is a lot of "Well, RDA might not be around."

Pure "If he doesn't come back, they could..."

Last I heard, Don Davis wasn't coming back next season, which leaves General Hammond's position at the SGC open. It's time Jack got a promotion, don't you think? It would mean he'd be able to keep up his reduced filming schedule, but be less obviously there only half the time.

Casting spoilers for next year: RDA is signed for S8 at the same time commitment as this year, as are all of the other regulars except for Don S. Davis.

I know Katie was speculating elsewhere on how that scenario wouldn't work, and I agree with her.

I mean, TPTB are big into the Jack/Sam, and I pretty much assume that once the characters are in a position where they can act on their feelings they will. (I mean, it's theoretically possible they'll go another way - Sam could meet a nice attainable guy and settle down, leaving Jack to kick himself for the rest of his life - but I doubt it.)

They'll never convince me it'll work long-term, though, not unless they have the Stargate program to connect through. They just don't seem similar enough. Not even recreationally - Sam is canonically kind of an adrenaline junky, whereas Jack is a go-off-alone-in-the-woods-and-fish kind of guy.

If people want to be spoiled Gateworld is the easiest place to start. They're fairly thorough through the end of this season and a few things for the beginning of the next have also come out.
