Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The bit where Daniel was all sleeveless and holding onto Jack? Beautiful.

But, of all fictional characters, my womb is pledged to Jack. I want to have little soldier babies with him. Hot damn.

I do hope, now that they're all "Look how buff Shanks is! Looook!" that we won't get complete strangers calling him geek anymore.

JenP, I think -- now, I could totally be wrong about this -- that Anubis is one of the old-school System Lords (see that episode with the ugly slave gear and the magical suggestibility potion and the unexplained snake-eating) and not likely to be recognizable.

Of course, now that I've said that... he could be in a host, couldn't he? But I got the impression that the Spooky Cloak wasn't so much for prolonged suspense and more that he doesn't look particularly human.

Didn't Anubis kinda ascend? That's why he's all Darth and stuff?

Watching Code Name: Eternity (Sci Fi Channel original series, which seems to mean repurposed from 1999), and although I've gone over Gordon Currie's IMDB entry I still can't place why he seems so very familiar. I hate when that happens, but it's always a Canadian actor when it does.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Anubis was a System Lord, got kicked out of the System Lord club for being too evil (no, really), Ascended partway (or Ascended all the way and then got partially descended - I don't remember), and has that weird face thing going on because he's only partly corporeal.

I've found myself with a strange sort of sympathy for the guy. I feel he needs a friend. I think I may be conflating him with that character - No-Face? - from Spirited Away.

Our wings are not tired

I'm doing a theatre show with Enrico right now. I've got to go to the first rehearsal on Monday. It's the second show I've done with him.

I keep forgetting Enrico was on Just Shoot Me. I remember him from Galaxy Quest most.

It's a tribute to him that it boggles me that he's both those characters. I know it's the same guy, but I can barely see it.

Ah, I see. I think I may have missed some Anubis explaineysodes, so when I saw the obscuring hood, I assumed he'd be in a host we knew. I'm kind of an HSQ whore now, I guess. Even when it's not ME. And, really, even though I know SG couldn't HSQ the same order of magnitude as an ME show, I have to hold out hope, because ... well, you know, whore. Although, I guess when you're expecting HSQ, it becomes something other than HSQ. Like, how the act of observing changes what's being observed or whatever that thing was I once heard in physics. Or, you know, not like that at all. I should never go there.

And, pulling the reins firmly back to the thread ...

Ascended how, ita? I missed some stuff, I think.

ETA: Thanks, Katie. I missed all of that very helpful information. Damn. No whipping back of the hood to reveal ....... ta da!!!

Anybody want a peanut?

WROD. I've adored him in whatever I've seen him in, which is basically Galaxy Quest and Just Shoot Me, and he's probably the only reason I really ever watched JSM. Love GQ, though. Cute damn movie. And he was so sweet in it.

Granted, GALAXY QUEST was one of the most pleasent surprise movies ever, for me. So damn funny. And about the only thing I've ever been able to tolerate Tim Allen in.

However, I stand by the opinion that if the original casting had gone through, Alec Baldwin would have been sublime in that role. Sad, and makes me think Baldwin is a bigger asshat than I ever thought previously, given his Beetlejuice credentials and all. He worms out of this, and then does Cat in the Hat last year. Brilliant!!!Not
