Cereal to say

It's a tribute to him that it boggles me that he's both those characters. I know it's the same guy, but I can barely see it.

WROD. I've adored him in whatever I've seen him in, which is basically Galaxy Quest and Just Shoot Me, and he's probably the only reason I really ever watched JSM. Love GQ, though. Cute damn movie. And he was so sweet in it.

Granted, GALAXY QUEST was one of the most pleasent surprise movies ever, for me. So damn funny. And about the only thing I've ever been able to tolerate Tim Allen in.

However, I stand by the opinion that if the original casting had gone through, Alec Baldwin would have been sublime in that role. Sad, and makes me think Baldwin is a bigger asshat than I ever thought previously, given his Beetlejuice credentials and all. He worms out of this, and then does Cat in the Hat last year. Brilliant!!!Not

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'm doing a theatre show with Enrico right now. I've got to go to the first rehearsal on Monday.

Let him know how much we appreciated him in this ep. "Hey! Good Stargate! Hope they ask you back!"

Heh. I really thought he'd turn on Jack.

Good one for the writers, totally setting me up. I like that.

The role Tim Allen played? I did not know that. That would've worked. I've liked AB in probably most of the things I've seen him in, even if I haven't always like the movies. Well, and some of his stuff on SNL? C'mon. Freakin' hilarious, is all. I don't watch SNL that often, but I will try if he's on it. He just clicks there.

Yes, this.

The role Tim Allen played?

Yep. I don't know the whole story, but either he got out of playing the role, or something came up so he couldn't do it. I really, really hope it was the latter, because I also generally like AB, and would hate to think he'd pass up such a chance. I mean, Tim Allen did an OK job of parodying Shatner, but AB would have been SUBLIME at that. IMO.

Sigh, yes. The potential is wonderful, but I'm SO happy with the actual film that it's mainly a wistful notion. I mean, it was a film that got fandom, sent up fandom, and also managed to give the heroics that is why there is fandom.

I'm curious what the Mutant Enemy folks thought of it, because that is one hell of a tricky balancing act to pull off.

Yeah - no diminishment of enjoyment here (Tim Allen V. AB).

I mean, it was a film that got fandom, sent up fandom, and also managed to give the heroics that is why there is fandom.

They did handle all of that deftly, didn't they? Huh. Go them. Makes me like it even more now. I had not thought of it from that perspective before, which is funny, 'cuz ... well, part of fandom and all.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Yeah, I can't be disappointed, because who knows? My gut says AB would've been great, but I know that TA was great.

God, I love that movie. I should buy it.

Thanks, Katie. I missed all of that very helpful information. Damn. No whipping back of the hood to reveal ....... ta da!!!

Well, there actually was a reveal. They spent like a season going "Oh No, Anubis! Who We Have Never Seen!" And then we saw him from, like, the back, and then we saw his complete lack of face, and then Ascended!Daniel told the whole "hey, turns out he's kinda ascended" story.

So they've been working with this guy for a long time. Shame about the dullness. (I'm not a big Anubis fan.)
