The reason, from what I've heard, is that Sci-Fi is half-considering the miniseries as a pilot for a new series. Which, honestly, just makes Farscape's cancellation hurt that much more.

I wonder, what percentage of the network's overall viewership is comprised of Farscape fans that might take umbrage at this?

Not enough to make any real difference, I expect. I did end up telling my Tivo to record BG, for the train-wreck factor. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Part of SFC's rationale, I'm sure, had to do with the fact that they control production and own BG fully. With Farscape they didn't have direct control over the product or its profits, and after a certain period of time they lose all their interest in it. Owning and producing BG means they get to keep all the pennies it earns during its entire life.

And I've never doubted that SFC meant BG to be an entire series: it costs too much money to make a limited-run miniseries, given the investment in sets, costumes, and all.

Which is why I have great hopes from the Farscape miniseries. Four hours, right, but it costs a ton of money to rebuild those sets, and they wouldn't do it if they didn't expect to use them for more than a few months.

t weeps, not the least reason for doing so being that there's only about six MST3K episodes they ever play any more, and I've seen them all

Well, for this I'll cut SciFi some slack since the rights issues for the movies are a major pain for all parties involved. And they did give MST a pretty good home for a couple more years. Granted, in the end they turned out be as ass-hatted as Comedy Central from all accounts, but this may be par-for-the-course for a certain size of cable network.

Oh, I understand, which is why I don't hold it against Sci-Fi (I have plenty of other things to hold against them). But I have grown quite tired of the eps they have.

Sheryl needs to share. For it is Monday morning, and my brain is not operating just yet. Are you perhaps a kindly MST3K tape fairy in disguise?

I could be, as I have darn near all the eps on tape. I will warn you that the quality may be iffy, as I taped most at EP.

I'm unconcerned with quality, just to get some fresh eps. If I were to email you my snail mail addy at your profile addy, would you mail me a random selection of tapes, and accept my heaping of meritous, wonderful praise upon you?
