I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

So I just watched Farscape's "Taking the Stone" for the first time and I was, er... a little confused. Was it just me, or the accents, or something, or was it really kind of unclear what the heck was going on?

Katie, you are right. It's entirely unclear what's going on.

Taking the Stone is actually kind of an irritating episode, Katie. It's not just you.

Oh good, not crazy. I mean, sometimes I'm just not paying attention, so I wondered if I'd missed something.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Oh, good. I felt the same way when I saw it a few months ago, but didn't actually care enough to protest.

Nope, it's really pretty insane. There are some good bits, though. Aeryn saying, "I'm not good at nice", and Aeryn understanding Chiana better than John does, and John beginning to show the PTSD/Harvey influence but nobody else noticing. But much of that is hidden under the bizarre production design and the impenetrable accents.

Cereal: but if this were a Star Trek episode, they'd have solved the problem by the end -- it's really quite nearly a direct ripoff of that TOS episode with the Grups.

You think you were confused? I had to watch it muted!

Honestly, that might've been easier. Then I could've just made up my own plot, you know?
