Kaylee: Captain seem a little funny to you at breakfast this morning? Wash: Come on, Kaylee. We all know I'm the funny one.

'Heart Of Gold'

Boxed Set, Vol. 1: Smallville, Due South, Farscape

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much anything else that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

But I liked Burkhoff.

He's the techie guy, yes? The young one, rather than the ponytailed one?

The only armed force less likely to show up in a TV series is probably the Coast Guard

Oh, surely they've shown up. On Baywatch, or Miami Vice, or some other show that would incorporate drugrunning.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

They've shown up on CSI Miami.

There you go!

Now, the Merchant Marine I have more trouble with.

What is the Merchant Marine? What does it do? I know -- I could look it up, but, I'm already here ...

Art Crawl!!!

I thought that the merchant marine was just the guys who worked on regular commercial shipping type ships?

They have, like, an academy, though. I know someone who attended it.

Here you go. Apparently you get "a bachelor of science degree, a merchant marine license, and an appointment as a commissioned officer on reserve or active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces." What that actually translates to I'm not sure; presumably you'd work with shipping if we had to ship stuff in a war.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

On Baywatch, or Miami Vice, or some other show that would incorporate drugrunning.

They were the bad guys on Baywatch, so I'm not sure if they'd count it as press.

t blink The Coast Guard were the bad guys? What, they were trying to take over the beach or something?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So...LFN is another show that went kablooey with the continuity and character-drift?

Does this happen to all of Dana's shows? (XF, FS, LFN...)

Here you go.

Interesting. I must now explore. Thanks for the link.
