Betnesol pellets, if you have them in the US, are good, too, if there is considerable inflammation. Also, there is an ulcer medication, Sulcrate, that can be dissolved in water and used as a mouth rinse. It adheres to open mucous membranes (to raw meat, is how it was taught to us) and protects it and allows it to heal.
Atlantic Canadian Monday Madness
[NAFDA] We used to get Buffy the day before everyone else, now we get Angel a week after everyone else. And Firefly every Monday!
Elena, I'll take 6 postcards, or 4, depending on how many you have.
I have two made, and can easily make you four more when I get to work on Friday. I'm there at 7pm. See you shortly thereafter.
Going to ENT in an hour. I'm more nervous this time than I was last time because I'm concerned about the relapse I've had. Will post more later.
B. and I are going to the 4:00 viewing of TTT... will go to see Elena right after. Elena, 2 postcards is fine!
At 1:00 today I am going to have cortisone injections up my nose. This should last longer than the prednisone did. I can't tell you how excited I am to get a needle in my sinus. Whoopie.
(((((((Megan)))))))))
Close your eyes before he even brings out the needle.
Was there any discussion of surgery?
It's done and it wasn't any worse than getting novicane, though the needle was huge. He said that they usually use these needles for epidurals, to which I said "Yet another good reason to not have kids". Har har.
Surgery is his last resort and since I responded to the prednisone quite well (though temporarily) he thinks the cortisone will work as well and longer. I may need to get needles every 4-6 months though. Surgery is just another treatment, not a cure, since the polyps will just grow back again. Looks like this is going to be a chronic problem that I will deal with for the rest of my life. Whoopie.
I should add that the doctor fit me in for this procedure today because I told him it would be sad if I couldn't taste my turkey dinner on Christmas. Nice guy!
Oh, poor Meeg... Don't worry, I'll do up 4 more, no problem. You shall have 6 postcards. It's the least I can do.
And, since I'll probably be seeing you in 15 minutes, you won't even see this message until after.
Well, it sounds like he's a good doctor at least. It's very nice of him to let you taste your turkey dinner!

He's great, and was worth the wait. thank you Canadian health care system!
Thanks Elena for the postcards. It was nice seeing you even for 2 minutes! I didn't get a chance to ask about B. How is he doing? Has he gone for his second CT?
Oh, when I was getting the procedure done Dr. Dempsey asked the nurses where the Otrivin was. The nurse said "That new young ENT guy had it last." So I said "Blaming Dr. Leblanc are you?" Dempsey laughed and said "He'll be marked for life by these nurses now." =)
