I called the hotel I'd be catching the bus at (I'll be leaving from work, so it's not the one by my apartment) and asked, and there's one leaving at a pretty convenient time (as long as it's not late). If the scheduling looks too tight, I can always work an extra hour or two early next week and then leave early on Friday.

Thanks Elena. It sounds like now, all they're going to do it monitor his white blood cell count and see how it's progressing. They won't think about treatment until he reaches of certain level.

Yeah, It's a type of cancer that predominant in older people, especially men. I was reading a website that said old age can get them before the cancer progesses. Which is a relief, in a way.

Yeah. My mom is calm about it, which is probably the best. She's not known for rational thinking, especially where her loved ones are concerned
