Joyce: And what did you do tonight? Dawn: Irritated Giles. I'm beginning to get why Buffy likes it so much.

'Get It Done'

Atlantic Canadian Monday Madness

[NAFDA] We used to get Buffy the day before everyone else, now we get Angel a week after everyone else. And Firefly every Monday!

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

Thanks, Sue!

A person's concepts should exceed their vocabulary, or what's a metaphor?

places too much emphasis on civil liberties.

Um.... Isn't there a line in the US National Anthem about the whole 'Land Of The Free'? Did someone in the State Department manage to miss that phrase in their Civics class? Or maybe Francis Scott Key was actually talking about Canada, that would make more sense.

No, no, no. You're not seeing the distinction. "Freedom" is a good thing, and the US has more of it that anyone else. In fact, members of the American government have been known to say that they have all of the freedom. Civil liberties, on the other hand, are bad. Look at that word "civil". What does it make you think of? Things like "civil service" - we all know they're lazy and wasting the taxpayers' money. Or how about "civil engineering"? That's all about sewage. Clearly civil liberties are bad and have nothing to do with freedom.

*golf claps for Ouise* I'd like to COMM that!

Megan, the civil servant (I hope that doesn't have anything to do with sewage)

Always happy to entertain ...

Yes, Nora got a bunch of comics last year. Some of them were pretty good, too! That's what introduced us to Ultimate Spider-Man, which is lots of fun.

edited because half the message vanished!

Free Comic Book Day? What are ya? A bunch of Commies?

Ouise - You could be an actuary! All the cool kids are doing it! (well, Billytea and I, but you can't get any cooler than that).

I could? What's it like? (If you've got a link to an article, feel free to post it instead of describing it yourself.)

So it's a Canada-only event? I guess we really are living in the promised land.
