Frank, you know I was just kidding around, right?

I figured as much, but I understand the sentiment. Season 3 is kinda sacred.

(and I give 4 the nod ever so slightly over 2 because it has WAY better stand-alones).

Okay, now I have to join in on the Frank stepping off! You liked 4 over 2?!?!?! PUT DOWN THE CRACK PIPE. Intervention time people!!!

okay, still kidding around, but I really think that 2 is much better than 4, standalone issue aside

Sometimes, I like season six better than four. Other than that, my list is usually static. I fully understand the people who like 2 better than 3, etc. I love the camaraderie of season 1, but I don't think the acting and writing were up to snuff yet.

Right. 2 and 3 battle for the top spot with me. Depends on how I'm feeling. If I'm feeling schmoopy, 2 wins. If I'm feeling like kicking some ass, 3 wins.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

the second claim in this story has to be bullshit, right?

That sure smells like bullshit to me, considering the career choices SMG has been trying to make after BtVS.

It's a verrrry slight edge, and they sometimes switch places, but despites some individual character moments that shine, the bad season 2 stand-alones "Go Fish", "Killed by Death", and, especially "Bad Eggs" I find much harder to watch than even the depths of the Riley/Initiative arc (at tossup between "Doomed" and "Where the Wild Things Are", which both also have good character moments). Season 2 had a better arc and infinitely better villains, but the great episodes are mostly part of the arc(s) and are angst-heavy.

If I'm watching to watch a whole season, 2 would be my pick (well 3, but I'm discussing my preference of 4 to 2 here), but if I'm going to pull out a random episode to watch, it's probably going to be season 4 (if, again, not 3): "Hush", "Fear, Itself", "A New Man", "Superstar", "Something Blue", "Pangs", "Restless", or even the Faith two-fer.
