What is even happening?

I probably shouldn't judge the Spuffies' splinterlike woobification of Spike, while I'm still trying to remove the plank of Buffy woobification from mine own eye.

(But Buffy makes this boo boo face, and I want to feed her warm, chocolate pudding, pat her on the head, and tell her to think of it tomorrow at Tara.)

(Of course that'll bring up unpleasant associations of its own.)

(Like it wasn't bad enough Willow freeloaded off of Buffy, while Buffy was wearing a frigging chicken on her hat to keep the repo man at bay.)

(Who do we think had to scrub to remove all that dead lesbian cliche from the carpet? Willow? I think not. She was too busy getting close to the earth with Giles. Which is ridiculous, 'cause Wicca good and love the earth, and womyn power and I'll be over here...)

(There's not Willow/Giles fic, is there? Oh, man that was a stupid question, for heaven's sake, I've had people—and let me stress this was completely against my will—prove to me that there's Transformers' slash, of course there's Willow/Giles fic.)

(Bleach. Need bleeeeaaaaaaaaach. Where's the bleach? Frigging Spike probably used it all up on his hair. How'm I ever going to clean my brain, now?)

(I'm done.)

What is even happening?

(In a righteous world, that post would have been COMMed. Here, everyone is now too busy, Googling 'Transformer Slash')

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Parenthetical!Cindy has me laughing too hard to cut and paste.

So, I'm reading COMM and DH is reading over my shoulder, and asks "What's Willow/Giles fic?". I do my best to explain. He gets to "there's Transformers slash" and says:

Well of course there is! They are more than meets the eye, after all.

And now he's pondering the best search terms for googling for it.

I blame Cindy.

Or society. Whichever.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Cindy is patently EVIL, of course.

Now tagless for your comfort.

of course since the COMM got me back reading this thread I came upon this:

I mean, I'm nearly as fond of Lindsey as most of the Spike fanatics are of their boy, but my reaction was always "Throttle him some more, Angel! Wheeee!"

And can't stop smiling.

The evil is this way?

(There's not Willow/Giles fic, is there? Oh, man that was a stupid question, for heaven's sake, I've had people—and let me stress this was completely against my will—prove to me that there's Transformers' slash, of course there's Willow/Giles fic.)

There is, I am told, Buffy/Giles fic. It creeps me out more than words can express.

I blame Cindy.

Me too.

Cindy is patently EVIL, of course.

*Nods head in agreement*

Hey. New board.

There is, I am told, Buffy/Giles fic.

It's not immediately obvious that there would be? Electra complexes are even more popular than Oedipus complexes for fiction purposes, and Giles is a father-figure if ever there was. Besides, he's hot.

The only Buffy/Giles fic I've personally read that I really enjoy was part of Destination Unknown, and it explains it pretty well as not-creepy. Lots of time between canon and when the story occurs.

Still, if not-quite-father/daughter was my kink, Buffy/Giles would be pretty much perfect. I have no quibbles.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

It's a pretty large niche 'ship, in point of fact. Not in the least obscure, though not to the size of, say, Buffy/Giles.

Sadly, I've been hanging out in DC comics fandom for so long now that none of this squicks me anymore.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Well, once we find out that a canonical character is actually a Superman/Lex Luthor love-child, the idea of getting squicked by the fanfiction becomes pretty ridiculous.
