I absolutely loved Season 5 Dawn. The sibling quarreling with Buffy was priceless (I still laugh my ass off when she calls Buffy a "butthole" at the end of No Place Like Home) and MT was really great in all of the dramatic emotional scenes. I thought Season 6 Dawn was good but not all that interesting (though with what she was going through, she had a right to be whiny and then some). Season 7 Dawn was cool but not used enough.
Overall, I'd say I'm a Dawn fan. (I also always liked Connor.)
I don't know that I'd be a full-fledged Dawn fan, but I love her kick to Buffy's shin in S7.
MT did a wonderful job in the role, but it doesn't make the character any more appealing or less annoying to me. I hated her from the beginning, and my hatred for her burns like a thousand white hot suns. The key could have been Buffy's favorite stuffed animal, for all I cared.
Buffy is on the cover of tv guide as one of the top 25 cult shows. I was in line at the grocery store, and there was my girl, stake in hand. I almost dropped my groceries, i thought it was back, or there was a lost episode or something.
And then I got all sentimental and had to pick it up and touch the cover.
And then I realized that I'm a HUGE DORK.
If there were a lost episode, people would shoot Joss for holding out on them.

Well, yeah, but you're among friends. It isn't a bad thing at all.
I would have done the same. I miss my girl too.

There is a lost episode. Tim wrote it.

I bought it because I didn't want to leave Buffy just sitting there at the checkout stand.

Mulder and Scully would have kept her company.
