Now you've gone and made me all nostalgic for the days when it wasn't Cordy that was the Angel Investigations employee who found the boss attractive.
Sigh. We had a good two seasons where it was everyone BUT Cordy.
Buffy ,'Empty Places'
This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.

Gunn remained a holdout for the entire duration, IMHO.
But y'know, if one were to assume that Wesley's guy crush on Angel wasn't entirely platonic admiration and need for affirmation....
Didn't his close rapport with Cordelia first begin to cool down a bit when Angel's number one priority became getting back in her good graces post-"Epiphany"? And by the time "Waiting in the Wings" rolled around and Angel was pretty obviously crushing on her, they'd gone from joking camaraderie to acting unaware of each other's existence. While I don't really see much evidence for the idea in canon, it would do a better job of explaining why Cordy & Wes got so frosty toward each other than anything else I've heard.

WitW had Cordy giving Wes BAD dating advice. I'm now wondering if I'm supposed to blame that on Jasmine.
Oh, was that where she gave him the "next time, don't invite the whole gang when you want a romantic dinner for two" speech? I'd had it in my mind as the opening of "Billy."

That was Billy.
She was busy telling him in WitW that Fred liked him, because Fred was talking about Gunn, but Cordy assumed, and as we all know, that makes an ass out of ME. Or something.
Well, it's my opinion that ME are asses for not having Wesley and Fred together...although taking into account the way ME relationships usually end (as well as real ones, screams the cynic in me) maybe it's just best that I dream about what might be.

Why?

I never want any lead characters together. Dating outside the group is how we get most of my favorite characters! (Tara, Oz, Anya...)
Wes and Fred? Don't care much for it, especially because it kind of pales next to Wes/Lilah (and, of course, W/G).
Fed/Knox? Oh yeah. I'm liking that. Shame he's (guessing here) probably evil. Hee.
I love Wes.
People realize this.
I love Fred.
People give me weird looks, but they realize this.
Wes and Fred together would be a trainwreck, and not the pretty kind. I remain cringing and going 'noooooooooooooo!'
They're alike in ways that should not be mixed.
Besides, Fred/Wes might mean no more Knox. And that would make me sad.
