Nor I, because I wouldn't know of what I spoke.
Buffy 4: Grr. Arrgh.
This is where we talk about Buffy the Vampire Slayer! No spoilers though?if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it. This thread is NO LONGER NAFDA. Please don't discuss current Angel events here.
smonster - your real life experience (and ouch to your mom - please do mock her, you've more grace than I would) I would buy. I didn't think they sold me on Willow, maybe it's because I didn't see her first kiss with Tara. At the beginning, it was all so metaphorical. I think if I'd seen Willow going through anything (nerves, excitement, lust, questioning, angst) prior to her telling Buffy in New Moon Rising that 'it's complicated, because of Tara' - I'd have been sold completely.
On the other hand though, I am appreciative that it wasn't approached as either, "How Willow Got Gay" or in the manner of an ABC afterschool special. By the end of NMR, I was into it. But they were too coy by half for me at the beginning, particularly considering Willow's prior boy-crushiness.
eta...
by saying "I would buy" your real life experience, I was using really poorly chosen words to express that I do understand that people just fall for people, and so if I'd seen more of Willow's story play out, the way you explained yours, I would have been sold on W/T, more quickly.
Um...
today on FX I'm watching the Buffy S3 premiere, and there's this scene of a lonely woman on the streets of LA. And I'm thinking 'hey, isn't that exact same clip used in the Angel opening credits?'
I like how the Buffy S3 opener introduced us to the physics and time-lapse dynamics in a hell dimension. It allowed us to get a better understanding of just how long Angel was in a hell dimension and further explains Connor's maturation in Angel S3.
That's so weird. I'm guessing I was subconsciously commanded to put in my S3 DVDs. Buffy's just reclaimed her name, fought back, and we saw the panning shot over her face that was in the credits forever.
kashi:
Okay, the scene where Buffy dives into Joyce's arms didn't use to make me tear up, darn it.
"Want to see my impression of Gandhi?"
"Gandhi?"
Damn - was it "Well if he was really pissed off" ?
Or was there a tamer version of pissed off?
Foreshadowing that never was:
ANGEL (to Spike): To kill this girl... you have to love her.
The popular application of the quote was to Crush!Spike, but if Angel hadn't spun off, maybe they could've done an arc where he ended up having to kill Buffy, possibly out of mercy.
yes, but the fact that the girl's parents approve/don't mind doesn't make it any less illegal, which is the impression that I got from Matt.
To be clear, I don't know for certain that anything illegal was going on (and certainly wasn't about to ask). But the two were engaged briefly with full approval from her parents, and apparently it is legal in AR to get married before the age of 16 if the parents are on board with the idea.
I am so glad that out of all this friend's fiances, he waited to actually marry the right one.
