Even with all my ranting - I have lots of love for Season 7.

But then again, I am one of those people that has lots and lots of love for Season 6.

I am also one of those people that tend not to be too critical of anything that I am all obsessed and in love with even when they have big and obvious flaws: stoopid boys I have crushes on, ME shows and computer companies named Apple come to mind.

Yeah, well... I suppose I should put in my own disclaimer that, even with my complete and utter annoyance at the suck I thought was S7, I still would watch S7 reruns over new episodes of most other TV shows. And be happy about it.

The worst of Buffy is still better than most other's bests.

I would gladly join in on a S7 rewrite. It went horribly off the tracks after a very strong start and even the strong finale couldn't make up for all the dropped plot threads, bad characterization, frelling boring speeches. But y'all keep yer grubby mitts off S6.

Thanks for all the fish.

My main focus on a rewrite would be making Giles recognisable and making Xander be there.

Oh, and my unforgiving nature is not for BtVS, it's just in general.

"God...my brilliance is now becoming a bit of a burden...get back to me." Dr. Cox - Scrubs

Shortcomings in S7 in my book were the lack of core character interaction that should have been heavy in the final season. Not enough Giles interacting with the group. He was an outsider. If this was not the last season, the "is Giles dead or alive" debate would have been more interesting. Knowing that it was he should have been decisively one or the other, leaving us in limbo and wondering was a great joke but bad timing.

Another shortcoming was the stretch of episodes that took place over what seemed like a 24'esque long day. I know this has happened before in the Buffyverse but it just seemed to go nowhere at times. I did not like the Ubervamp storyline, especially seeing how easy they were to off once an scythe was made available and SiT's were given powers. Buffy got her ass kicked by one of them and she has been slaying for 7 plus years. I have a hard time believing(and no matter how cool the final battle was) that just out of the oven Slayers could off an army of them and only lose a few in the process.

While I did actually like the episode "The Killer in Me" because I kind of was into the Kennedy/Willow thing, I did not think the Amy re-entrance in the show was very well done. I think that having her for just one episode was kind of clunky.

I think S7 started out VERY strong up until the action hit a snail like pace and speeches were given like they were going out of style. Sure this is the end of the world, but we didn't get 4 paragraph long speeches for any of those.

I think that even though some of those episodes were weak pace wise they had light moments to bring them up a bit. The only episode I can say that I didn't really like was "Get it Done" and maybe "Showtime". GiD just took forever to accomplish something that really disappointed me in terms of the slayer mythos. "Showtime" could have been a whole lot better.

I dont really get caught up in disliking a certain ship, like W/K or Spuffy, or even certain characters. I just take the relationships at face value and move on to the storyline at hand and do not let one aspect ruin my watching experience.

Although one character I did not like was Principle McBoring. His storyline was good with his mother being the Slayer Spike had killed, but he was built up for being much more than that it seemed. All the creepy stuff that they had him seemingly being around or part of was fluff it seems. It also seems like him being the son of a slayer was written in later in the game to give him more of a reason to be there and cause tension.

See, that's so interesting, Gleebo... Your list of shortcomings in S7 is almost exactly the same as mine, and yet I get all ranty about it, and you actually like the season. Fascinating!

I miss Xander though, although I have been missing the Xander I knew since S4. He was the reason I fell in love with the show, because, basically I was Xander. But I guess it seems fitting that a person who felt unnappreciated at times was pushed to the backburner. Almost like it was a subtle cue to Xander after S3 that sometimes he does need to just sit back and get out of the way unless called upon.

But there is always room for Xander humor, no matter what. We needed more of that.

Thank god for Andrew.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My perfect S7 would have been called S5 and would have incorporated all the good bits of the last 3 seasons with none of the dead weight.

The First would have been incredibly cool, and there would have been no Glory, and no Caleb.

I enjoyed Caleb, but his late arrival makes me understand why some do not like him.

Another thing about S7 that irked me was that the character of Xander had perfect attendance in the series up until "Conversations with Dead People". Joss and co blew a perfect opportunity to have Eric Balfour return as Jesse, even if it was for just a few scenes. Also I would have loved to see Tara return, and even Halfrek for Anya.

Another thing was that all the hype about Dawn possibly being a potential was another waste of time, even though I enjoyed "Potential". It would have made perfect sense to me if she was a potential because she was molded from a slayer, so therfore she would have some of the traits of one. I think that internet feedback may have nixed this one because so many people were negative about her becoming a slayer. I know the writers and producers of the show hear some of this and no matter what they say, I think some of it affects their final decisions on the direction of the show. Otherwise we never would have gotten S/B, which I think fans pushing for made it come to fruition.

Thanks for all the fish.

How do you envision the First, Jess?

Because I think it should have been a season long Yoko Factor, with lots of mental anguish.
