Rayne:
Someone has been posting a script that they think is either an early spec or early draft of the original Buffy movie. (I haven't read it yet.)
It's available here: >[link]
I read that script this weekend.
I am inclined to believe it may actually be a late writers draft. It seemed more"Jossy" here and there where it deviated from the finished movie. Elements such as dusting and more backstory and a different ending, with Pike and Buffy moving beyond the dance are notable. Plus? Whole ending is different, and there's this hole Lothos chamber in the basement of the HS thing...

It is possible. It was stylistically more like the series scripts, enough that I started "seeing" SMG doing the character, instead of KS.
I may post an excerpt in my next post.
However, I may be full of hot air, so... Anyone else? Bueller? Bueller? Clear Eyes?
Some might find this scene from that script...familiar:
CLOSEUP - BUFFY
Looking out. Amilyn's face appears right next to her, also looking out.
AMILYN
All clear?
Buffy screams, turns, and Amilyn decks her, sends her flying back into the classroom. The stake flies out of her hand. It lands on a desk by the window.
Buffy does not land nearly as well, crashing into a pile of desks and twisting her leg badly. Amilyn laughs repulsively, advancing.
AMILYN
Pleased to meet you! Won't
you guess my --
(kicks her hard)
-- name?
BUFFY
(defiantly, through the pain)
It wouldn't be 'Dick,' would it?
He kicks her again.
BUFFY
(continuing)
'Lefty'?
AMILYN
You're a fool, bloodbag.
Die a fool and go to hell!
He grabs her by the neck with his one arm and pins her against the wall in the corner. She reaches for the stake but it is just out of reach. He is squeezing the life out of her, his face inches from hers.
AMILYN
(continuing)
The chosen one. You're just
another bloodbag -- not even
fit to die for the Master. When
will you ever learn?
Buffy looks about for succor.
ANGLE - THE WINDOW SHADE
Buffy eyes the bottom of the shade, the pull dangling aimlessly.
BUFFY
(with difficulty)
I do know... one thing...
AMILYN
What?
BUFFY
I know...
what time sunrise is.
She pulls down hard on the shade pull and lets go.
AMILYN
No!
He turns in horror, letting go of Buffy, trying to catch the shade. The instant he releases her, Buffy grabs the stake and in one swift motion, buries it in Amilyn's back.
The shade goes up, flapping loudly as it spins. It is still pitch black out. Amilyn stare, wide-eyed and silent, at the night as he dies.
BUFFY
It's in about four hours, Dick.
Amilyn spins, dying rage in his eyes. He grabs her. His strength is formidable even as his body begins to smoke.
Suddenly screaming, he forces her over suddenly with such power that the two of them go crashing through the floorboards.
Sure to be an x-post:
In Joss' commentary for S1 - WTTH/Harvest - he talks about how he wanted to use the above scene in the movie - it never got filmed - so he brought it back for the pilot.
Cool. That's a good clue that this may be authentic. Or a well-researched fake.
Hey DCJ - I have been meaning to mention - I am using the scan of Mel with the Slayeraxe from Fray that you put up a link to many moons ago (after it first appeared in the show) as my wallpaper....I love it (My favorite part is actually her quote: "I have something to say." What a BADASS). So thanks!
I REACHED THE END! I REACHED THE END!
uhm...Jess, happy for ya!
As for Buffy actors that will go on to bigger and better, I woulnd't write JM off just because of his age. He's signed to do a movie in September with Sean Bean and Derek Jacobi. Those are pretty big names (to me, anyway) to be working with and I don't see AH or SMG drawing that kind of attention anytime soon.

Big names in some circles, but not big names in terms of box office clout, either of them.
He'll probably do a series of quirky artsy films, which isn't a bad idea, but I don't think big box office smashes are the direction he's heading.
And Eugene Levy, damn it, is every bit as cool as either Bean or Jacobi.

Yep. I'll be shocked if JM's movie (which I could probably look up the title of, but I'm too lazy) beats American Wedding at the box office.

Damn straight!
