What were the ratings for the series finale? I'm curious, one day that could be a Trivial Pursuit question for HoyaSaxa Jr.

'Buffy' Finale Stakes Strong Ratings for UPN Wed, May 21, 2003 04:48 PM PDT
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" went out as it came in -- as a hit among younger viewers, if not the general populace.
Tuesday's (May 20) series finale, in which Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar), the Scoobies and an army of potential slayers battle the First Evil, drew 4.9 million viewers to UPN. The episode drew the biggest audience for the show since October 2002 and finished well above "Buffy's" season average of 3.8 million viewers.
It also scored well in the teen and young-adult demographics UPN targets. The finale averaged a 2.7 rating among people ages 12-34 and adults 18-34, beating all of the big three networks in the hour. (It trailed only FOX's "American Idol" sing-off and the "Gilmore Girls" finale on The WB.)
The finale also gave a boost to the premiere of "America's Next Top Model," which improved on the time period's season average across the board.
Of course, "Buffy" was never about getting huge ratings. Based on anecdotal evidence -- Internet message boards and the like -- the finale seems to have pleased most of the show's fiercely devoted fans.
How lame is it that I find the Buffistas a week after the show ended, even though I am a S1 fan and old WB Bronzer? I have a vague recollection even of Matt the Bruins Fan telling me about the site at the PBP two years ago when I was whining for a good Buffy board.
-sigh-
Anyway, I just wanted to say I scrolled all of this thread today and I really appreciated all of your thoughts about the end because the reality of it hit me again, hard, today. I was travelling on business last week and only just got to see the ASN-Monday broadcast, then was busy in no-buffy land all week. Then tonight, the channel I watched Buffy for almost the whole run aired High School Reunion in the Buffy slot. That broke me. I quickly flipped to the rerun Buffy on Space and hurried to the puter to fire up the web.
Thanks for being Comfortadors. I knew knew knew the series end was going to club me but being clever and being bereaved are two different things. I'll go on, I guess and buy all the dvds as they come out and grasp at the reruns as they air and wear out my tapes and hope against hope for guest spots or spinoffs or movies. But it isn't the same, is it?
It is kinda like the selfish guilt feeling after learning a favourite author has died. Knowing in your gut that you will never be taken to that place you loved ever again. Yes, there will be other projects, and I will be there faithfully. But those projects won't be Buffy, and that is kicking my ass, harsh.
Welcome, John t narrows eyes suspiciously if that is your real name...
Where in Canada are you?
Hi Elena, thanks.
Of course that is my real name, why would you ask? -blink blink-
-grins-
I'm in Sarsville. I get ASN off the digitalcable, and muy thankful am I for the bounty of ASN and UPN and KTLA. Somehow, that doesn't seem as cool as it did even a week ago.
Where are you at?
ETA: darn board et my emotes, better hit the FAQ again, pronto!

Or, for obscene amounts of money, you can recreate the Summers' living space in your very own home :)
I am a S1 fan and old WB Bronzer
You'll find a few die-hard ol' Bronzers around the place, wearing their Buffista letter sweaters and pretending to be hip to the BuffistaIsland sensibilities (And by sensibilities I mean PORN!). But at heart, they're really still homeless Albanians, who think nasty thoughts about the WB nightly, mutter about the band of buggered and yearn for a black and beige board.
Or possibly just- Hi John. I was a Bronzer once, and true.
John, I'm in Halifax, home of Buffy on Monday nights. ..

Oh, dear god I'm so sad to lose the taunting!
Though I was in Toronto just two weeks ago.
Hi Julie, glad to hear that there is some of the old Bronze crowd in the house. We happy fe -- I'm over it! (little lie there)
The money being spent on Summers house um, treasures is certainly revolting, by which I mean, way out of reach for my lifestyle. The real memorable objects are costing a lot. I'd like to think that the good stuff is going to someone who will set up a Buffy museum or something, wouldn't that be cool? Then I wouldn't have had to say I really wanted the EvilWillow outfit. That horribly scarred my buddy Eric who visualized without proper safety procedures. [I wanted it to be preserved for posterity, not to make a lifestyle-changing declaration, I hasten to add]
I'd like to think that -someone- is recreating the Summers' living space in their very own home, but I'm glad I don't have to live there. The carpentry bills alone ...
But it would come with a Xander to do all the woodworking. That'd be swell.
But without the depth perception option.
