Buffy re-enters the basement and they face each other across the room. We flash to the next shot, and it's morning, and we're looking at the school bus. The evil genius found a way to have his cake and eat it, too.
You know when I first watched this scene it seemed clear to me that that was Buffy coming down to get Spike right before they left for the school. I'll have to watch it again, but weren't the lighting and Buffy's clothes implying that it was the morning of the big day? It seemed like the "meaningful glance before we go into battle" shot.
Huh. It seemed like night to me.
But now I'm wondering, how did Spike get to the school? Was he on the bus, covered in blankets (or tucked in someone's backpack - he's quite compact, you know.) Or did he do the sewer tunnel thing and just popped up in the hallway? I can't really remember.
Huh. It seemed like night to me.
No, you were right. I just re-watched that scene. It was indeed night. Well, I just don't like that!
Just catching up, and I DID read every post...and I got nothing.
Except, I think that I was probably the only person watching "Chosen" saying "Man, I wish Molly was still around for this."
I'd move to Chicago and vote for him twice.
On behalf of my city -- HEY!!! Contrary to popular rumors, we do not vote twice here. We have the dead vote. It's a whole other thing.
So, in other words, Buffy could vote twice, maybe three times?
Again with the mulitple-voting accusation. It's "One person, one vote." It's just that in Chicago we believe that death is no reason to stop participating in the electoral process. We're very democratic that way.
The good thing about the scene with Spike and Buffy looking across the basement at each other, is that it allows the viewer to decided. And everybody's decision is equally valid. So not cake or death, but definitely cake and eating it.

Not cake. Cookies. Warm, delicious cookies.
Was I the only one paying attention?!?!
mmmmmmmm cookies
Cindy, a fade to black was a sign of Hays-Code-prohibited sexual activity onscreen. That the FTB was a little slower than usual seemed to emphasize it to me.
And not that I watch Scene 14 over and over again or anything, but Buffy is wearing different clothes in that scene than she is when she goes in to battle.
I'll just say this here because, well, just because, but some Spuffy friends who've been trying to get me to love the ep insist that the flaming hands was a symbol of sex/passion.
