Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I really like the idea of a Buffista Fund for Impulsive Gestures. I mean, right now I'm sitting on many months' worth of server fees, thanks to generous Buffistas (have I mentioned how much y'all rock? And I'm especially looking at a couple of you lurkers), so people with extra cash on hand today could throw it in the BFIG instead. But I'm not going to coordinate it.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

if your personal preferences are anti-proliferation, then all of your reasons are *not* hosting based,

My personal preferences are for what's good for the board. Which is hosting related.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh not! Not the return of the Great Proliferation Debate!

Can I propose that we start a thread for any and all contentious debates that tend to recur in Bureaucracy?

The Debate Team thread. Want to discuss proliferation, voting procedures, and provide purposely provocative definitions of censorship? This is the thread for you!

Isn't that the Sartre slug?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Could be worse. We could be talking about preferential voting.

Which, you know, has not been a major topic since like last April, so some topics, at least, we can leave be for extended periods of time. Go us!

heh. We could make it be the slug.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee! My preferential is to not voting! Deproliferate 4evah!

Anyway, I think we all want to prolong the board's useful life. We just disagree on what will or will not do that.

Up with the sun

I think Burrell is right that the proliferation horse is pretty dead. Am putting away beating-stick.

Also, like Allyson, I would be fine with my most recent Press post being deleted if it counts as Natter.

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I... kinda think this would be asking for trouble. I mean, we're talking about a fund to do nice things for Buffistas, right? Which is lovely, don't get me wrong, but it just seems like the possibility for upset and how-do-you-choose and who chooses what impulsive gestures to make... it feels to me like instituting a kind of formal financial award for being a Favorite Buffista As Defined By The Holder Of The Money. You know?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

The way we've done impulsive gestures in the past has generally been someone coming up with an idea, then quietly circulating and organizing it backchannel. I kind of prefer that, because we're not handing out anything in an Official Board Capacity; it's just people surprising their friends with cool stuff.
